living in caves

bigfoot is batman
without the cape
the one that can
be better at the escape

live by an oath
watch how they behave
think that they both
may live in a cave

he's big & tall
that's known
probably can't call
on the bat phone

know how to hide
it's how they roll
& how to slide 
down a pole

neither have been seen
wearing slippers
& I don't mean
that they're strippers

they tend to keep score
can bust a bad situation
they may be more
than just your imagination

@ the waterfall

there I stand
not sure how I got there
a bucket in my hands
I catch the water

the ether calls
turns the wrench 
the words fall
me they drench

the itch they scratch
set a clever tone
if I do not catch
they're forever gone

read & know
what runs thru me
they bleed & flow
& beat the drum truly

in the waterfall
landing words ride
the big & tall
standing on the other side

bigfoot has no money
in the bank
but his days are sunny
and full of thanks

out in the winds
takes a peep
he values the friends
that he keeps

he has no yard 
with manicured grass
if the hill is hard
give it more gas

sings no blues
because he knows
he gets to choose
which way he goes

no china sets
or fancy platters 
bigfoot's math gets
to the heart of the matter

bigfoot invests
to get to soar
he knows that less
is really more

is not spic & span

at hide & seek
bigfoot is cooking
he takes a peek
when you're not looking

in his kitchen
you're denied to see
him always a switchin'
his side of the tree

they're his lands
he winks winds blow
as he stands
at the sink & window

you'll be tired
gripe & retreat
but you're not required
to wipe your feet

go ahead & inspect
pick & plan
just don't expect
spic & span

stirring the pot
exists there unseen
but he is not
Mr. Clean

speak easy

bigfoot goes in the nude
the weather must be breezy
he is not eating food
on leather in some speak easy

hard is his habit
clear is his view
not in the Black Rabbit
on Sears Avenue

when he lowers the boom
it is usually pretty loud
not in a private room
away from the crowd

he does not reveal
secret is his mission
probably never had to deal
with the prohibition

Someone told me about attending a dinner party in a local speak easy over the weekend. I wasn’t quite sure what a speak easy was. And I didn’t know that they still existed. So that is the inspiration for today’s poem. It is always fun to learn something new.

stranger

the mysterious cat
with too many lives
you can find us at
bigfootpoet.com archives

we write fast
bigfoot in verse
the poem written last
it will be first

bigfoot crosses any border
trying to dodge it all
here you'll find the order
kind of backwards chronological

into some danger
your mind may be put
we may be stranger
than trying to find bigfoot

n2 the waves

a bigfoot sighting
said it out loud
kind of like kiting
up in the clouds

were they lying
unbelievable it seems
were they flying
in their dreams

in another place
did reality splinter
in that space
we're not allowed to enter

that strange critter
we draw a blank
something to consider
as you walk the plank

I wrote this poem yesterday after watching a music video that Charlie Sexton had done years ago. The title of the song is Everyone Will Crawl. One of the lines from the song is “I dreamed I was flying.”

Yesterdays poem was about fairy tales. That was probably prompted by a quote that I read by Albert Einstein.

If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.

I hope that you let your imagination run wild and free on this Saturday and in all the days to come.

hear bigfoot's call
it carries thru the veil
we know that he is tall
but is he a fairy tale

trying to decide which
to understand & settle
is he like the Witch
& Hansel & Gretel

he is frightfully big
his bed out in the woods
is he like the 3 Little Pigs
& Little Red Riding Hood

the mystery unlock
& try to become aware
like Goldilocks
& the 3 Bears

try to keep your head
do not cuss or fight
go & try to find the bed
that is "just right"

truth is a sabre
its flame cannot hurt you
it has a neighbor
its name is virtue

light is the weight 
of their arrows
carried thru the gate
of the straight & narrow 

in their neighborhood 
birds record the nightfall
out in their woods
heard by the short & mighty tall

the feathered arrow flies
free it is shot
whether any eyes
see it or not

weather's winds forever blown
ships cleverly boarded
whether they are ever known
or ever recorded
