hear an angel’s wing

22AUG25

as it flutters

like the notes
on an acoustic guitar
the ink floats
like in a luxury car

the ink sings
wisdom it utters
hear an angel's wing
as it flutters

my hand follows
where the ink leads
sunset in the hollow
crickets in the weeds

bigfoot is fun
and always around
we watch the sun
as it goes down

I am temporarily halting the editing of the bush hog video that I mentioned on Monday. There are more than a few slow moving backing scenes in that video. And I am going to let my brother decide how much of that he wants to in include in the video. But I will have it set up so all that we have to do is delete those scenes. And then it should be fast and easy to publish it. Should be. Famous last words : ) I guess we’ll see.

I am returning to the holler in early September. I plan to shoot several more drone videos on this trip. I damaged some of my propellers on the last trip. dji is the dominant drone manufacturer and supplier of drones. They are located in China. There is a severe shortage of parts including propellers. You can buy a lot of replacement propellers. But a lot of the reviewers on Amazon claim that there can be a problem with flight stability with some of the propellers that they have ordered. I plan to try to fly the bird over bridges on creeks and rivers to capture some of the beautiful Appalachian scenery that I grew up in. And for that I would really like to have the OEM propellers on the bird. We’ll see how it all works out.

I hope that all of your projects work out and turn out great. And I hope that you have a great weekend!

questions and doubts

18AUG25

as the rocks flew

screams and shouts
as the rocks flew
questions and doubts
we've got those too

a giant mystery
to say the least
legend or history
of a mythical beast

are you cooler
what width do you find
when you take a ruler
and measure your mind

imaginary or real
and just able to hide
maybe a lot of the appeal
is the difficulty to decide

the ability to bore
bigfoot has none
he just opens the door
to some goofy fun

Today I will be working on getting a video of my brother operating a bush hog in the same field that the other videos were shot in edited. They bale the hay on the more level ground. And then they run the bush hog to clear the land that is not suitable to run the rake and baler over. I guess that you could say that the bush hog is kind of like a heavy duty lawn mower that they pull behind the tractor. It will probably be a slower moving video. But it should be up on the blog by today or tomorrow unless I run into some type of issue.

I hope that today is a good start to your week!

Poems

hay on a hill

23JUL25

in no hurry

the mountains rise
to meet the clouds
with open eyes
and heads unbowed

they were born
a long time ago
they have been worn
by water and wind flow

strong they stand
in no hurry
they are the land
of the proud and blurry

every where they go
know no fetters
and if you don't know
that's even better

as they pass
thru the veil
time to roll the grass
into round bales

just be prepared
as you go
if you are aware
they will know

We flew all over a hill top yesterday. We filmed two tractors mowing hay in the morning. And then we filmed one tractor tethering the mowed grass in the afternoon. That is a process where they kind of fluff it up so it will dry faster. This morning I am meeting my bother up there again. He is going to bush hog a part of the field that he did not mow. I guess that is done if the terrain or vegetation is too rough to mow and bale. I always tell my brother that he has forgotten more about cattle and farming than I will ever know.

We viewed some of the video clips on the laptop last night. Some of it is very pretty. This video may be end up being little longer. We still have to film the raking and baling in the next day or two. I better wrap this up so I can get set up on the hill top on time. I’m pretty sure no farmer wants to wait on his camera man. And that is probably especially true if it is your brother : )

I hope you have a great day. We’re smiling a lot here and hope you are as well.
