A Flash of Beauty

Poems

as the shadows move

24NOV25

it’s heard in the trees

in dreams of the moon
the unknown meet
they scream a tune
that has its own beat

there is no error
it sounds just right
just full of terror
in the dark of night

it flies and grooves
in the birds and bees
as the shadows move
it's heard in the trees

all of the earth
hears its sound
it is their turf
it is their ground

your racing heart
how to protect it
it may be time to start
for the exit

I am still in the holler this morning. I am not sure when I will return to Kentucky. I am trying to tie up some loose ends. I am also trying to gear up for the motorcycle/drone videos that I plan to shoot in the upcoming months. That involves buying more equipment and learning how to integrate the footage from different cameras in the same video. I have been watching a lot of tutorials on matching frame rates and the other camera settings to try to make it easier in the editing process.

There is a lot of video content of bigfoot screams on the internet. A Flash of Beauty is almost done producing a film about the Sierra Sounds. I think it will be titled Voices in the Wilderness. As soon as it is finished I will let you know. Their content is always excellent.

I hope that your week gets off to a great start on this Monday!

Poems

your hands will shake

21OCT25

more than Barney Fife

bigfoot is not Old Yeller
you may encounter animosity
he is not a bank teller
behind a counter for your curiosity

he has a big heart
and a soul with wings it's true
but you are not a part
of his list of things to do

the woods are his home
you are just passing thru
it's good when you're in Rome
to pay attention to what they do

it may be too much of a thrill
listen to the stories from the past
when it all goes down hill
all way too fast

he is a bull rusher
has done it many times before
a loud rude usher
all the way to your car door

your hands will shake
more than Barney Fife
you're playing for high stakes
when you run for your life

The first line of the poem is a shout out to all of the dog lovers out there. I have noticed a lot of people who love dogs at the bigfoot festivals. Some people actually bring their dogs. One of the slide shows that I am getting ready to put on the blog and You Tube has a pic with a dog wearing a bigfoot scarf. And a lot of people have on dog t shirts. So there seems to be some overlap between those people who like dogs and those who like bigfoot. And it is only fair to point out that at this point that there are many more people who believe in the existence of dogs than believe in the existence of bigfoot : )

There are many stories of people and their dogs having encounters with bigfoot. It is almost always an adversarial relationship. Usually the dogs are more frightened than their owners. They seem to know something “big” is up or out and about. And the stories where the dogs are frightened end much better than the ones where the dog is brave.

In the Scott Taylor interview video with A Flash of Beauty he tells the story about a family that had a group of bigfoot living on their property. They got a puppy and the puppy met the bigfoot while it was young. The people said that it would disappear for hours at a time almost every day and come home smelling like bigfoot. So maybe bigfoot doesn’t hate dogs as much as some of the stories make it seem.

(You can watch the Scott Taylor video in the Bigfoot Videos section of the Drop Down Menu in this blog.)

My brother has a story about the time when they were keeping his wife’s grandmother and she accidentally hit her medical alert and the paramedics came up thru an unlocked basement door going thru the dark house with flashlights. It is a hilarious story.

Bigfoot may have similar stories about people running thru his living space in the middle of the night acting all crazy. And that may help explain why he isn’t as patient with the dogs some of the time. But if it were my dog I would keep them leashed and close.

When it comes time to preserve and protect your best friend should be pretty high on the list. Because after a lifetime of dealing with them I am pretty sure you’re high on their list.

And as always my favorite readers are the ones who are reading this saying to themselves “Thanks for the imaginary warning.”

But this blog does fly the bigfoot flag so every once in a while we ride the crazy train. I have said before that bigfoot can make you smile even if you do not believe in him. And it is also true that “crazy” can make you smile sometimes too. I guess it is like bigfoot and the dogs. It depends on the situation.

I hope that your situations today are ones that make you smile a lot.

that’s more our style

it is a strange gig
the candle is lit
Ayolyn is big
enough to handle it

even more strange
travels in a glowing ball
they claim he can change
from big to small

will be much grief
if you prefer simple
too many strange beliefs
in the bigfoot temple

so don't go too far
may be better to wait
watch him from a car
going down the interstate

this poem read
or you can skim it
it's bigfoot speed
there is no limit

it's strange work
it'll make you smile
or maybe just smirk
that's more our style

I will go over some of the some of the bigfoot concepts that I reference in the poem just in a case there is a reader out there who has not watched a ton of TV and you tube content and read several books on the big guy. As always this is to inform you. This is not an effort to convince or prove. So you are welcome to read and be amused or informed or whatever your reaction may be.

Among the people who claim to communicate with bigfoot there is a general consensus that the bigfoot do not like the name bigfoot. Chuck Jacobs makes the point that in comparison to their size the size of their feet are not that big. He also very often ends his talks with the phrase “It is time to add a few more cars to the back of the crazy train.” So it seems like he is at least aware of how crazy this all sounds. And many of these people seem to think that bigfoot prefers the name Ayolyn. I’m not sure if anyone knows exactly how it is spelled. I am not sure if anyone claims to have had it exactly spelled for them. (In my mind I am picturing one of those big fat pencils and tablets from early in elementary school.) : )

Some people claim that bigfoot can travel inside of a glowing orb. That is the glowing ball in the poem. In a Flash of Beauty video titled Paranormal Bigfoot: Harold and Cody they claim they saw a bigfoot turn into a glowing sphere. The interview is 35:32 minutes long. That is the changing from big to small in the poem.

There are kind of 2 main camps in the free wheeling strange world of bigfoot enthusiasts. One camp believes that bigfoot is a flesh and blood animal or being that is very elusive and good in the woods. They do not see anything paranormal going on. This group is sometimes referred to as the “flesh and blood hypothesis camp.” The other group of bigfoot enthusiasts are open to a lot more strange and out there concepts. They tend to believe that bigfoot is inter dimensional. They believe that he can disappear. Many of them claim to communicate with bigfoot thru telepathy or mind speak. Arla Williams in Oklahoma claims that she has experienced walking with bigfoot and that he made both of them disappear and that they walked by a group of birds unnoticed. She says that when they uncloaked the birds flew away. There are also many stories of bigfoot healing humans. This group is usually called the “paranormal camp.”

For years the Bigfoot Research Organization in California would trash any report that mentioned UFOs, orbs, bigfoot disappearing, only seeing part of bigfoot moving along and all of the other really strange stuff. Many of the people that worked as researchers for them and compiled the reports have said that most of the reports had to be trashed because most people actually reported seeing something that the BFRO deemed too strange to believe. And those same researchers said that many of the people making the reports struggled with having seen these things. And they wanted to know if anyone else had seen anything like this because they were troubled by it. Thom Powell talks about it in his latest interview in a Flash of Beauty interview.

Into each day only so much rain should fall. And into each blog post only so much craziness should be loosed on the reader. In other words we have probably walked far enough down the crazy bigfoot path for today. Let’s make our way out of the woods with a smile or smirk bright enough to bless all of those that are fortunate enough to cross our path.

out of sight

bigfoot is a concept
dark was the night
reason he is kept
out of sight

knows humans are strange
locks the door
Indians used to roam the range
are almost no more

Moses in a basket
in the reeds
bigfoot does not ask it
has all he needs

the help we would give
there is no doubt
that he would rather live
and do without

ten laws from Sinai
in Moses's hands
Bigfoot's soul can fly
because he understands

try to protect
and love all
and try to respect
above all

A Flash of Beauty dropped a new video yesterday. This blog is big fans of their work. Most of the videos that we provide links for come from those guys. The video is with Thom Cantrall. There are many things that I like about the video. I like the tone of his voice and his demeanor. I like the story about his father having problems doing simple math problems but still being able to order almost the exact amount of lumber and materials to build a house. There are some videos that I kind of dread to see come to an end and this was one of those.

As always we will let you come to your own conclusions about how much of what he says you want to believe or buy into. He mentions Arla Williams and Barb Shupe several times. A lot of what he talks about they also talk about in their interviews and books. There is also a man in Arizona named Chuck Jacobs who tells very similar stories about his experiences with the “forest people.” He states in the interview that his own family laughs at him so he hasn’t told them many of the stories in the interview.

Any time we link a video we usually try to explain that we are not trying to convince any one of the existence of bigfoot. Bigfoot is plenty entertaining and amusing whether you believe he actually exists or not. And really it is probably better for all concerned if he continues to live in the land of myth and legend. Everything seems to be rolling along pretty well under these circumstances. So as long as everyone seems to be happy why mess things up.

If you haven’t figured it out yet this is kind of a goofy blog. And bigfoot is the flag that we fly. If everyone starts believing that he is real. Then we may be forced to get a new flag : )

The video is almost one hour(59:45) long. I usually break the videos up into smaller chunks and try to do some type of exercise when I watch them. I do this for 2 reasons. It keeps me more alert and I don’t feel like I am wasting so much time.

Enjoy the video! You may be able to tell that some of the lines in the poem are inspired from his talk. And honestly the “dark was the night” line is a nod to Blind Willie Johnson and the blues song which now flies thru space on NASA’s Voyager Golden Record.

Poems

back in the neighborhood

01AUG25

into the dark

sit and write
make a mark
shine a light
into the dark

it is a stark test
as the pen rolls
into the darkness
of my own soul

cold is the cave
shadows unknown
the soul I save
could be my own

can't make a decision
on bigfoot and the elf
as I seek vision
into myself

I am back in the neighborhood this morning. So it is off to run errands and stock the refrigerator. I shot a lot of footage in the holler of my brother’s farming activities. So I still have al lot of editing to do. But three videos should be almost done. I just need to upgrade some of the software and learn how to use it. We will see how long that takes.

I hope that you enjoy your Friday!

less is more

bigfoot with giant lungs
many people seek
some with their tongue
in their cheek

running and screaming
and knocking on trees
he's got some people dreaming
more than the birds & the bees

everybody talks about
that he's larger than scale
he could wipeout
a bunch of NFL

bigfoot speaks no grammar
possesses the old Hollywood touch
knows you can only have glamor
if you don't reveal too much

to sell this
he draws with a MAGIC marker
he learned this from ELVIS
and Colonel Tom Parker

The hay adventure came to a close yesterday. I shot so much footage that It will probably turn out to be several videos. In the next day or so I will head out of the holler. While I am still here on the farm I thought it would be a good time to post a really good bigfoot interview with another farm boy. He grew up on a farm and claims that bigfoot or “boogers” as a lot of the people in the south call them have always been on his farm. It is a long interview. So I suggest that you break it down into something like 20 minute segments. I usually take a picture of the time line at the bottom of the screen so I know where to come back to just in case the device that I am watching it on doesn’t automatically start me there the next time. And like I have written before I usually try to do some type of exercise while I view these things so I don’t feel like I have “wasted” so much time.

Mr. Baker gives a fascinating talk. He worked for NASA. So he talks about a lot of the science in his search. He explains everything in a very down to earth manner. He has a fascinating story about a Shofar. That is a horn that he had to track down a Jewish mystic to help him learn to use. His interview is part of The Flash of Beauty you tube channel. It has definitely been one of their more popular interviews. He has another interview where he conducts a tour with them on his farm and he shows them the actual places where the events happened.

There are a lot of great story tellers that come out of the farms of the south. And he is definitely one of them. Enjoy the video.

the cryptid cake

19JUL25

bigfoot is just one slice

is bigfoot nice
or is it a mistake
he is just one slice
of the cryptid cake

dogman is scarrier
universally understood
he's almost a barrier
to going into the woods

I am not playing
it's an easy decision
want my werewolves staying
inside of the television

no way I'm facing
that much strife
a dogman chasing
me for my life

his is dangerous territory
with too many fears
but if you've got a good story
I am all ears

There are a lot of good dogman stories out there. Most of them are terrifying. I have two books by Martin Grove about his experiences at Land Between the Lakes. He has done several videos on you tube. Matt Emch also tells very good story about a teenage experience that he and three other friends had with a dogman. According to him the three friends lives were derailed by the experience and the fact that their parents would not allow them to talk about it. His father did take him to a Catholic priest to talk about the incident. And their conversation was interesting.

Arla Williams claims to have encountered dogmen in her many travels. She has a bigfoot habituation situation on her farm. She doesn’t seem to be as frightened of the dogmen. She describes them as “having a different energy.” I suspect that the fact that she claims to have been interacting with bigfoot since she was a small child has something to do with her more relaxed perspective.

Tim “Coonbo” Baker tells that he didn’t believe that dogman existed until he did an investigation after two women arrived at work terrified because “a werewolf had looked into their car window and tried to steal their souls.” He said that at that point he had been documenting bigfoot sightings for years. And he realized that the first investigation that he ever did was a dogman. He had tried to convince the people that they had seen a bigfoot. So he went back to talk to them again. He told them that he thought they had seen a dogman instead of a bigfoot. The father had died at this point. But he said he would never forget the oldest son telling him. “We tried to tell you but you just wouldn’t listen.”

These names that I have dropped are probably kind of like a coming attractions or previews section for the blog. These people and their interview videos will make their way onto the blog.

And for those of you out there who are sure that bigfoot doesn’t exist then dogman is probably still a bridge too far at this point. No one is arguing with you. We are not here to recruit or convince. We are like the Jerry Springer show. “It’s all good.”

We are just here to goof off and have fun. And that really is what we want you to do as much as your busy schedules and obligations will allow you to do. So we stand here on the pier this morning and smile and wave as you sail off into your fun weekends. Remember fun is a frame of mind. As you paint your beautiful painting don’t forget about the frame : )

In reorganizing the blog I decided to add the Matt Emch interview video story to this post. It is a long interview. But it is a pretty good story. The interview is part of a A Flash of Beauty podcast.

Poems

respect is the better path

18JUL25

my muse is big & scary

what is the use
why wait or tarry
when my muse
is big and scary

no wasting time
or procrastinating caper
as I put a rhyme
to the waiting paper

write my lines
the words select
it's how bigfoot defines
that I show respect

so no regrets
that stay with me
because then I get
to play in his trees

follow the bigfoot club wish
a hymn with words
so then they can publish
them for the birds

the burden I bear
& pull for their eyes
not sure if they're aware
of the Pulitzer Prize

it is a bell
they hear toll
they can tell
a pure soul

I hope you have good day as you wrap up the week. Smile as you take a running go at the weekend.

Hawaii

Haiku Stairs

u will not see

bigfoot is a singer
in the band
together they linger
and travel the land

he is known to scream
as much as he sings
he can take your dreams
and give them wings

always avoids jail
and the hotel rooms
as thru the veil
he easily zooms

him on iTunes
you will not see
but maybe under the moon
and some big trees

A lot of mornings I struggle with which poem to put in the blog post. And then you have to decide how many verses to include. So this morning I will allow you to decide which verses you want to include.

you cannot deny
makes your heart pound
when he amplifies
his own sound

doesn't do drugs
but likes the dark
scares the bugs
off of the bark

people report all
kinds of tall tales
as thru the portal
he and his band sail

I tend to like the shorter versions of the poems. And I have read accounts in Texas of people seeing bigfoot smeared in mud. And their theory was that they are doing this to fight the mosquitoes. So maybe they don’t scare the bugs.

Yesterday we did the Scott Taylor video from A Flash of Beauty on bigfoot. This morning we are returning to Oahu to visit and learn about the Haiku Stairs. There is a little bit of time pressure because ever since I have known about them there has been the threat of them being dismantled.

This morning’s video is 2 years old. Currently the City of Honolulu is in the process of removing the Haiku Stairs. That started in April 2024. A group called Friends of Haiku Stairs filed a lawsuit to halt the destruction of the stairs. They were granted an injunction to halt the removal of the stairs. The city is contesting this decision. So the fate of the stairs appears to be in the ongoing court battles.

The locals have told me that most of the local people are against taking them down. Of course like a lot of things that might depend on who you ask. But in my whole time of following this ongoing saga (and it has been going on for years) it seems that the prevailing attitude among the residents of Oahu is that there should be some way to manage access and charge for hiking the stairs. They seem to think that something so spectacular is worth preserving. Of course that may just be my own bias coloring the tea leaves that I’m trying to read.

There are several other videos of the stairs that you can check out. Almost all of them are with better weather and probably better views. But this guy did such an excellent job with this video that it was an easy decision to feature him. And as strange as it might sound I have always found Oahu to be at its most beautiful in the rain and fog. And it happens a lot there. That’s where they get the rainbows.

Enjoy the video.

A Flash of Beauty: Scott Taylor Video

in the director’s chair

it is all serene
hidden from your stare
it is his scene
in the director's chair

it's not a hoax
well maybe a distraction
there are no jokes
when he screams action

remains out of sight
that is his plan
no one can control light
the way he can

he has a love
for good film stock
he is not above
throwing a rock

part of their anatomy
designed to be ignored
won't be at the Academy
to pick up an award

I have been focusing on publishing some posts to put in the different sections of the menu lately. But today we are back to the big guy. A Flash of Beauty dropped a video with Scott Taylor 6 days ago. He is an investigator that lives in the state of Washington. It is one of the best talks that I have heard on bigfoot. He has a very pleasant and kind disposition and speaking manner. I mean this as a compliment. He reminds me of a woodsy Tim Conway.

In his talk he covers so many things. He talks about how that no one is prepared for how big they actually are. I have often thought about that. Last October I was walking by a yard and noticed a big Halloween skeleton. I stood there and looked up at it for a while. I wondered how tall it actually was. I went home and googled it and found that it was 11 feet tall. People report sasquatches as tall as 15 feet.

He also talks about the fact that a lot of people need someone to talk to after their encounter. He has taken over 200 reports and talked with witnesses who have had experiences. He states that he has actually seen them 7 times. He talks about bigfoot being a door that once you walk thru you realize that you have to let your mind out of the box that it has existed in.

All in all he is a nice guy giving just the most informative and incredible talk about bigfoot and other related stuff. He goes over a lot of crazy information in a common sense way. It is almost like you are listening to Andy Taylor explain bigfoot to aunt Bee, Barney and Opie.

The video is almost 70 minutes. That is longer than I usually leave a link for. But this video is just too good. I usually watch the long videos in chunks. I usually watch for 15 or 20 minutes and then take a pic of the timeline at the bottom of the screen to make sure I know where to pick back up. It is not a bad idea to do some type of exercise while you watch these videos. That way you will not feel guilty about the amount of time that they chew up.

Enjoy the video. You may notice. He smiles a lot.

Every time I have run this video the link seems to be starting the video at around 40 minutes in. I have tried removing the link and rewinding the video but it still starts at the same place so if you watch it you may want to make sure you are starting at the beginning. Good luck!
