Poems

bigfoot’s story

08SEP26

read with a smile

is there a Sasquatch
is he good
does he watch
from the woods

thru a veil
another dimension
jokes set sail
if you mention

the mystery winks
maybe even flirts
thru lots of ink
on a lot of t-shirts

open his book
& study a while
it's hard to look
& not smile

Enjoy your Tuesday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Poems

bigfoot’s veil

25AUG26

is his sail

movin' in groups
huntin' & fishin'
like troops
on a mission

because of their stealth
they can be bold
it is the wealth
that they hold

they set sail
or they tarry
their own veil
they always carry

where they go
it they wear
we don't know
they were there

Enjoy your Tuesday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Poems

does bigfoot

03AUG26

communicate with Heaven

in the night
what does bigfoot seek
is it easier in the quiet
to hear God speak

does he have a clue
does he wait
do the two
even communicate

is he tame
or does he rage
are they on the same
or a different page

is he aware of the divine
as he travels the world
or like the swine
ignoring the pearls

thru the veil
with divinity
does he sail
into infinity

Enjoy your Monday. I hope it is a great week for you. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

The pearls and swine are a reference to Matthew 7:6 “do not cast your pearls before swine.”

Poems

honest bigfoot

17JUL26

ode to the top hat

a leaf turns in the wind
it blows thru
it earns its friends
it knows you

beneath a big sky
Heaven has painted
it & the big guy
are also acquainted

high it rides
to see its trail
thru both sides
of the veil

hushes its lips
as on it rolls
luscious are the trips
of an honest soul

Enjoy your Friday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

The title of the post and poem are kind of a word play on Abraham Lincoln. I was originally going to go with “honest bigfoot – needs no axe” but then I thought that “ode to the top hat” sounds a lot like “stovetop hat.” So “hats off” to Honest Abe & bigfoot two legendary tall woodsmen.

Poems

to make you better

31AUG25

than you were found

words and letters
in a book bound
to make you better
than you were found

words to pledge
a ship to board
wield the double edge
word that is a sword

life is a trip
to beyond the veil
faith is the ship
wind in its sails

it is most hard
because he's out of sight
bigfoot is like the Coast Guard
but not orange and white

your wind swept friend
that lives in a rhyme
is ready to step in
at any given time

will grow to liking
more and more
like the Vikings
and their oars

Enjoy your Sunday and your Labor Day weekend. Stay on the lookout for the opportunity to brighten someone’s day. Be kind of like that guy that is at the top of the ship’s mast looking out toward the horizon : )

Poems

into the deep

14JUL25

time to sail

birds begin the day
with a song
it is their way
of starting strong

getting out ahead
of the rising sun
listen from your bed
it sounds like fun

their spirit fierce
it's how they roll
let it pierce
into your soul

wings on the wood
soar with the free
sing something good
for bigfoot and me

all are friends
even into the veil
catch their winds
it's time to sail

This morning as you sail off into your week I wish you good fortune.

Music Video

Elvis the folk singer

30JUN25

a tree or the veil

you find the facts
once you see
it puts an axe
to your tree

a tree you've grown
since your birth
falls to the unknown
roaming the earth

assumptions you have made
you now realize
were some shade
pulled over your eyes

but do not fear
calm your soul
to see clear
is the only way to roll

like wind that blows
know he is there
the big guy knows
that you are aware

was it your tree
that just fell
or is what you see
the presence of the veil

Yesterday I was talking with a good friend about folk music. He was telling me about a band from Middlesboro Kentucky that had been on AGT. They are called the Appalachian Heathens. They had performed a version of Knocking On Heaven’s Door. So that is what had gotten us on folk singers.

My friend was taking a break from yard work. He has quite the green thumb in more ways than one. He is the one who planted the seed in my mind for what would become the blog that you are currently reading. So if you are suffering you know who to blame.

I asked him if he had ever seen the video clip of Arlo Guthrie doing his talk on Elvis the folk singer. I don’t think that he had. I came home and looked it up. I have always thought that it is neat and kind of magical in a way.

We have talked about the vibe more than once in the blog. I really like the vibe and kind of magic that kind of floats in this video. It will be the 2nd entry in the Music (non Hawaiian) section of the blog menu.

Enjoy the vibe and the video as you smile…

Poems

bigfoot flies higher

a different path

I am a miner
for words I dig
to fly on an airliner
a bird that is big

from in the ground
to in the air
match their sound
make them pair

let off the brakes
let the wheels roll
along with them take
in their wings my soul

look to the sky
the runway is clear
I say goodbye
this day to fear

bigfoot is spying
as over I pass
he knows I'm flying
in first class

wind blows the sky
and the entire sea
he knows he flies
higher than me

even as I soar
over the trees
he sees more
than I see

under a different oath
on a different path
and we are both
okay with that

answer travel's call
sail with the swift
until the gavel falls
and the veil lifts

faithful souls
true our hearts
play our roles
do our parts

Risen not rotten
strong the rhyme flows
written about values forgotten
a long time ago

apes in caves
sasquatches unknown
He who escaped the grave
watches from His throne

the angels sing
heavenly voices lifted
"put bigger wings
on that cryptid"

shine their lamp
approve the good
bigfoot breaks camp
& moves thru the woods

Hope you have a great day. My smile rule is still in effect even on a Sunday : )
