bigfoot with video

Thom Powell video

19AUG25

with a sense of humor

can't throw in the towel
there's something new
check out Thom Powell
in this new interview

could get muddy
so bring extra gear
learn about his study
of bigfoot on Mt. Ranier

used to teach school
wisdom was gifted
now he learns the rules
of the cryptids

has studied the beast
from near and far
thinks he's at least
as smart as we are

his book was a trip
written at least 2 more
they all drip
with sense of humor

I mentioned last week that I intended to put up another bigfoot video on the blog. This is an interview with Thom Powell by A Flash of Beauty you tube channel. If you have read very much of the blog you will know that we are big fans of A Flash of Beauty and all of the content that they put on you tube. Mr. Powell is a retired high school science teacher who spent most of his teaching career ridiculing the bigfoot researchers until he bought property out in the woods and was informed by his next door neighbor to be prepared to deal with the phenomenon.

His story goes on to describe that as he attempts to study them he slowly begins to realize that they very well may be more intelligent than he is. He uses several unorthodox methods to try to communicate with them. His is an entertaining story. Like all things in the bigfoot world I will leave it up to you as to how much of it you want to buy or believe. But his story is very similar to a lot of the other researchers.

He throws out some names in the interview. You may want to google them if you are unfamiliar with them. A lot of times these guys assume that the listeners are familiar with another researcher’s work or books. A lot of times I find myself pausing a video while I google a name on another device.

We have stated this many times in the blog but just in case there are some new readers we are in no way trying to convince anyone that bigfoot exists. And we have zero interest in finding one. What ever you believe on the subject is ok with us. If you do not believe that bigfoot exists that is probably the best for all concerned. That seems to be the way they want to keep it ( if they exist ). They seem to be smart enough to realize that things usually do not go that great for those that we “discover” or “befriend” or “try to help.”

As crazy as the whole interview is you can still sense that he is trying to wrestle with the subject thru the lens of a high school science teacher. And when you get on the wrestling mat with the subject of bigfoot I’m not sure that’s an opponent that you are going to be able to get a grip on. I will refer you to the second quote on this blog’s home page.

“The deeper you look into the bigfoot issue, the more confusing the creature becomes.”

Ray Crowe, 2008

The video is 59:22 minutes long. I usually break the longer videos up in smaller chunks. I also usually try to do some type of exercise while I watch. I do that for two reasons. It keeps me more alert and I don’t feel like I’m wasting as much time.

The link for the video is below. Enjoy the video. And enjoy your day!

Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival August 7-10

05AUG25

it’s like hunting snipe

we're a friendly tribe
just trying to connect
bigfoot is throwing a vibe
it is a big reject

refuses to uncloak
it's like hunting snipe
he's refusing to smoke
our peace pipe

think we should
pack up the wigwam
he's sayin out of his woods
or it'll be like Vietnam

we're on our way
we're no fools
as we rush to obey
the big guys rules

the car unlock
and away tear
before bigfoot's rocks
get in the air

there is no time
for ukulele strumming
want to avoid writing a rhyme
about bigfoot rocks incoming

I put the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival in the title of this post. It is a huge bigfoot festival. Not sure yet if I I am going. And if I do go I am probably not going to stay for 4 days. Thom Powell is speaking on Saturday. He wrote an excellent book on bigfoot titled The Locals. He is a retired high school science teacher. He tells a very interesting story about his journey from being someone who made fun of people who search for bigfoot to actually becoming a researcher. He also gives a fascinating account of slowly realizing that he was the one being studied and toyed with.

Yesterday I got one drone video up on the blog. It is a flyover of my hometown Nickelsville, Virginia. I actually flew and filmed it on 07JUL25. So it took me about a month to get it up. I have several other videos in the pipeline. There are some from April and May that I need to get on the blog. And I have a list of projects that I am planning to shoot. Some I can shoot right away. One I have to wait for a creek to go down. It is too high on the banks and too muddy. When I was reconning the sight last week it was uncomfortable standing next to that much brown water rushing by me in a low lying area. I was happy to climb in the car and drive back up to higher ground and get on the highway. I also have to try to predict when the leaves on the trees will turn into their different colors. But it seems like that I am always going to have too much to do when it comes to the work flow on the videos. And I guess that is a good problem to have as long as they continue to make their way onto the blog.

You can find the new drone flyover video at the bottom of the drop down menu. If you are on a mobile device there will be be 3 slashes in the top right hand corner. If you tap that it should give you a listing with the drop down menu. I hope that you enjoy the video. I shot it on my 5th flight with the drone so I’m sure that there is lots of room for improvement : ). Perhaps my mistakes will make you smile!
