are old friends

long is the day
for the defeated
strong is the way
for it to be completed

bitter is the cup
big the frown
we all have our ups
& our downs

many the miles 
in the race
faster with a smile
on your face

whether you cross
the finish line
is won or lost
in your mind

struggle is hard
what Heaven sends
bigfoot battle scarred
they're old friends

it is your life

at the bus stop
by the alley
on the mountain top
in the valley

the waterfall
rushes & pounds
we all 
have ups & downs

the surge is stronger
in the tides
bigfoot is longer
in his strides

struggle is the cure
understanding you have to run
just make sure 
you're standing when it's done
