samurai chatter

bigfoot with video

there is more of life

02DEC25

to live than you know

ride & explore the lightning
float on the thunder
don't ignore enlightening
avoid that blunder

along the way decide
prepare to be awed
open up your inside
keep your mind broad

out there in the woods
go find your wings
it is not good
to think you know everything

be sharp as a knife
drink the moon's glow
there is more of life
to live than you know

patterns need to be broken
keep only what truly matters
all of this was spoken
in the Samurai Chatter

The Samurai Chatter line refers to the Sierra Sounds. These are recordings that were made in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the 1970’s. The Flash of Beauty You Tube Channel and film team has a new documentary coming out soon. It is called Voices in the Wilderness. It will focus on Ron Morehead and the other individuals that were up there experiencing and recording this phenomenon way back then. I will provide a link to the official trailer for the film below. And I will be informing you several times when the film is officially released.

This should be my last full day in the holler. I got the motorcycle insured and inspected yesterday. Hopefully by the time warm weather rolls around we will have the small fleet of motorcycles, the GoPro, and the drone ready to start a new series of videos in Scott County, Virginia where I grew up. Hopefully I will figure out how to edit it all and get it up on the blog and You Tube by that time.

I hope that this turns out to be great day for you!

Poems

some samurai chatter

05NOV25

instructive and protective

the woods in the fall
they paint their own scene
as the elusive and the tall
move thru unseen

make not a sound
undetected ghostly they hide
it is on the high ground
where they mostly abide

the drone uses its props
to do its bit
bigfoot can see the treetops
from where he sits

some samurai chatter
instructive and protective
it is all a matter
of one's perspective

Yesterday I shot some drone footage of a hollow or valley lined with a stream traveling to a historic mill. The intent was to try to capture the colors of the trees in the fall. Some of the footage may be later used in some videos about the mill. When we were looking at the footage one of my friends commented that the trees are prettier from above than they are on the ground. Have you ever noticed that the profound tends to travel in simple statements? So that is where the idea for this morning’s poem comes from.

Today I plan to try and fly over and around a railroad trestle bridge. There are a couple of swinging bridges in the same area. I am not sure if I will be able to get to them on this trip.

I hope you find time on this day to focus on some of the beauty that I am sure surrounds you. And I hope that it makes you smile.

Poems

the great white whale

04NOV25

thar she blows

patience as they hide
refusing to be found
what it's like to ride
the bigfoot merry go round

try your best
but be a good sport
because your recess
it is too short

visions of bigfoot glory
roam in your head
read other people's stories
at home instead

the samurai chatter
it draws the line
bigfoot is not a ladder
for you to climb

so as you set sail
do not try to grab
things did not end well
for Captain Ahab

into the veil
bigfoot goes
the great white whale
thar she blows

the angel's lips
listen to them
don't be on the ship
that corners him

My first morning in the holler on this trip. The fog is beautiful as it hangs over everything this morning. I hope to get the drone in the air later today.

I hope that you have a great day. March into it with a smile.

Poems

the just and the proud

27OCT25

they never die

bigfoot language art
the samurai chatter
he gets to the heart
of all that matters

in the past
Hollywood told a lie
there is no last
of the samurai

it is written in the clouds
silver lined floating in the sky
the just and the proud
they never die

they make their choices
the eyes of the brave
together their voices
rise from the grave

their bell tolls
muffled in angel feathers
they still roll
and hold it all together

let the evil connive
in its reward for sin
the samurai are more alive
than it's ever been

This may be the week that I head for the “holler” in Virginia where I grew up. I’ll know more as I get more reports on the leaves changing color. But there is always the fact that if I wait too long they may fall off of the trees. It all kind of reminds me of the CLASH song from back in the 80’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go.” Google it and take a listen. It’s a rockin’ tune for the ages. And in my case the aged : )

I hope that whatever this week holds for you that you make it fun. Let it put a smile on your face and all of those around you.
