bigfoot travels

29MAY26

across our minds

long is the path
moved not explained
it heaven hath
approved & ordained

it is a duty
he rolls with
a sense of beauty
in the whole myth

few sightings many miles
escaping fame & attention
igniting many smiles
at his name's mention

throwing rocks
filling pages
a paradox
for the ages

Enjoy your Friday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

The Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest will be held in Stanton KY on 30MAY26. That is tomorrow. If you show up in a bigfoot t-shirt there is a good chance I will try to take your picture for a YouTube slide show.

NOTE: The blog has a menu with more video content. On a computer it is at the top of the screen. On a tablet or mobile device it is the 3 stacked slashes to the right of the word ASTRA. Enjoy the blog.

Poems

bigfoot reads the inscription

22APR26

that the night wrote

bigfoot in the weeds
living in the fringe
he has no need
of the big syringe

reads the inscription
that the night wrote
forgoes the prescription
of the white coats

has a man's face
is not an ape
hospital is just another place
for him to escape

our chemical cure
he always resists
not even sure
if he exists

I am dealing with some flu symptoms. That probably accounts for the medical slant to this poem. Enjoy your Wednesday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Poems

we are TV for bigfoot

28JUL25

we play his notes

a new week beginning
it is already here
somewhere bigfoot is grinning
ear to ear

that's how it goes
he has played us
he already knows
he will evade us

it is his turf
we play his notes
as he surfs
on his remote

we are not able
to find him as we wish
not sure if we are cable
or satellite dish

but evidently
we are just free
but on his tv
we are must see

we always take it
from that son of a gun
just hope we make it
into reruns

if our growing numbers
are any indication
pretty sure we will lumber
into syndication

I am still in the holler. I will probably return tomorrow. This poem is from a theme that I have used before. I posted a video at the end of May before the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest of Charlie Raymond, the founder and president of the KBFRO giving a presentation on bigfoot. In that video he made the statement that we are entertainment for bigfoot. That we are kind of like his TV. That statement has been made many times before by many other bigfoot researchers and enthusiasts. Many even suggest that instead of searching for bigfoot it is better to go somewhere you think they might be and just hangout and wait and see if they initate contact.

I am fully aware that there will probably be a lot of people that may read this with the mindset that bigfoot does not exist. And that is cool. As a matter of fact we have stated numerous times that is probably what the big guy wants and that is probably the best for all concerned. But to those of you who may be open to the fact that there is more out there than we have been told well maybe this will give something to smile about today and thru your week.

Poems

holler hilltop sunrise

24JUL25

sun over the hilltop

sun over the hilltop
and across the field
helps grow the crops
with the power it wields

robins riding their wings
land and peck the ground
they take time to sing
to those of us earthbound

not that far a whitetail
it is not that fleeting
before he sets sail
maybe it is a greeting

then fast as the wind
getting gone is good
like his big friend
out in the woods

try to be aware
that it is good
that we share
this neighborhood

know it's our duty
in the heart of it
all of this beauty
we're all part of it

a holy hymn
it is easy to see
it is more them
than it is me

This post is getting out a little late this morning. I drove up to the hilltop hayfield where we have been filming the last 2 days to check out how it looks at sunrise. After we have the field sitting full of round hay bales I may try to fly the drone thru and over it at sunrise to catch some of the beautiful morning light. Sunrise was at 0631 and I was on the hilltop from 0600 till 0700. So that is my excuse : )

On the way up to the hilltop I kept on seeing robins on the pavement. I guess they were trying to catch insects before daylight. And then I remembered to drive really slow. Because that time of day is really dangerous because of all the deer crossing the road. My nephew has hit so many deer on the way to work early in the morning that I accuse him of doing it on purpose. He has to drive this very steep and curvy country road in the dark. I told him that I think that when he gets to the most dangerous part of the drive that he turns off the headlights and puts on a pair of night vision goggles so he can sneak up on the deer. He just laughs. He and my brother have a lot of good stories about all the things they have seen driving back and forth to work in the dark. My brother has a story about finding himself in the middle of a bunch of galloping horses that had somehow gotten out onto the road at night. He said he just knew he was going to hit one but somehow they all avoided each other.

As I was walking out of the field toward the gate I looked across the road and saw 2 deer standing perfectly still watching me walk. They stood there for along time. I could see what looked like a smaller deer at the wood line. They finally broke their stance and headed back for what I assume was their child and did a lap around the field and disappeared back into the woods. It was very peaceful and pretty there in that field as the shadows gave way to the sunlight.

I hope as you go thru your day that you find and enjoy the beauty that is in it. And I hope that it makes you smile.

Poems

theological bigfoot

20JUL25

nothing is nailed to the door

bigfoot gives a sermon
in the dark swaying
it's hard to determine
what he is saying

his eyes glow
like words in red
his thoughts I know
he puts 'em in my head

a good place to be
the spirit is flowing
his pulpit is a tree
that is still growing

he doesn't read
but can mind probe
he has no need
for a flowing robe

he speaks the truth there
a credit to his species
he's like Martin Luther
and the 95 theses

his message pure
loud his roar
I am pretty sure
nothing is nailed to the door

it's a tranquil scene
his smile aglow
I guess 1517
was a while ago

don't think this is a Reformation
at least from what I perceive
seems more like an invitation
to sleep on the leaves

Looks kind of like one part poem and one part ecumenical history lesson. I guess that the flag that this blog flies is as goofy and out there as ever. Enjoy your Sunday!

embrace your style
eat some lunch
on your face smile
like a whole bunch

Poems

tree theology

wings & wisdom

what are your eyes on
is it a mansion
how about your horizon
does it need expansion

that noise that you heard
out in the trees
was your soul stirred
like the birds & bees

if you want your wings
& wisdom to grow
then there are things
that you should know

your books & Bible
are they well worn
you have been tribal
since you were born

the heart of your vibe
is not on a screen
start for the tribe
of the unseen

the forest people
can see your worth
their tall steeple
is a tree in the earth

Enjoy your Sunday. Smile even if you are by yourself.

bigfoot on the tracks

it’s bigfoot’s train

the night is as dark
as it is long
leaves it's mark
even on the strong

creatures of the night
fold their wings
the crickets quiet
as the bird sings

it's their paddle
laid on their canoe
as the shadows
let the light thru

now they hide
they'll be back
to this side
of the tracks

it's bigfoot's train
in the in between
you can't explain
what you've seen

Yesterday I shot footage on the drone. Now we’ll see how long it will take to get it on the blog. Today I will attempt to edit it. And by that I mean I will try to learn the editing software. Not sure how long that will take. But you will be the first to know.

Last night I happened across a bigfoot podcast on you tube. It was Charlie Raymond and his wife Lyndsey. They run the Kentucky Bigfoot Research Organization. I wrote quite a bit about the KBFRO in the 2 weeks leading up to the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest 2025 at the end of May.

They call the podcast Bigfoot Hangout. Their guest last night was a guy named Carter Buschardt. And a lot of their conversation was fascinating. There was some discussion on the flesh and blood vs paranormal front. And it was very respectfully and thoughtfully done. Which in the bigfoot world is not always the case. I was doing several different things at the same time and only caught bits and pieces of the program. But I definitely intend to go back and give it my full attention. I accidentally typed in “intention” instead of attention. And I probably mean that as well.

From what I saw last night Mr. Buschardt seems to work with a lot of families who have habituations. In the bigfoot world that means that a family claims that they have and have had bigoot on their property or usually farm for years. You would be surprised at the number of people who claim to be in this situation. That always makes me wonder how many people might be in the same situation and not telling anyone.

As always we’re not trying to convince or convert anyone. But it is an interesting topic. I am including a link for the KBFRO’s Bigfoot Hangout podcast below. The video is 1:38:32 long. I’ll let you decide how long you want to hangout.

If you don’t pursue the podcast I hope that you find something else today that gives you a sense of wonder and makes you smile!

bigfoot in the wind

bigfoot’s prayers

the wind sings
as it blows
about things
we do not know

of its history
the time is long
of its mystery
the rhyme is strong

blows on the hills
& over the knolls
knows how we feel
in our souls

in the in between
calls at the door
it has seen
it all before

it is freeing
the blind to see
like the being
behind the tree

all of his prayers
it has known
as thru his hairs
it has blown

At the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest last Saturday I met and briefly spoke with one of the speakers. His name is Jeff Meldrum. I was very impressed that they brought him in to speak. He is a highly respected and known researcher with academic and scientific credentials. Very often people with science and academic credentials are terrified of being associated with anything to do with bigfoot because of the damage that the perception will do to their careers. A lot of what they do depends on securing funding and good luck with that once you become associated with bigfoot.

Probably the most impressive proof that exists about bigfoot is the Patterson-Gimlin film from October 20, 1967. It was shot at Bluff Creek, California. Growing up I had a wonderfully colorful uncle named Bob. Uncle Bob probably is deserving of his own blog. I am sure that the stories and antics from his life time could keep me busy for a long time. And as far as entertaining, I am sure that he could give bigfoot a run for his money. The reason I bring him up is that I remember him loading me up along with his two kids and wife into either a single cab pickup truck or a Ford Torino and taking us to a theatre in St. Paul, Virginia to watch the “Bigfoot Movie.” Everybody should have a colorful uncle. Every kid should be so lucky!

For years there has been a giant debate about whether or not the film is a hoax. And that is the topic of today’s video. It is a short clip but the speakers are giants in the world of bigfoot. Meldrum is the only one that is still living.

The link for the video (4:08 minutes) is below. I hope you have had or have a colorful someone in your life that has left you with memories that make you smile. Or even better maybe you are or could be that for someone else. Enjoy the video.

Poems

bigfoot drinks magic water

out of the ether

the words come
hear them call
beat like a drum
as they fall

take a breather
a story to tell
out of the ether
to cast a spell

I am a sailor
I am not a witch
I am a tailor
my job to stitch

box the clothes
that we make
the box goes
to the lady of the lake

as the box sinks
forever more
bigfoot drinks
from the shore

For any. of you checking in to see your photos from the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest I posted a link to them in Monday’s blog post. The title of the post is “bigfoot fun in the Gorge” and the title to the poem is “KBFRO throws a bigfoot party.” The link to the photos and the videos is at the bottom of the post. I hope you like your photo.

More than one article that I have read about bigfoot has tried to draw a connection between him and Merlin. Both seem to exist in the land of magic and myth. And having some myth and magic in your life is probably a good thing.

I am out the door this morning to try to get the drone memory card formatted and practice capturing flying video footage so I can begin learning how to edit it and get it up on this blog. I live within the 5 mile radius of of a small airport so I have to travel out of that before I can fly the drone. A big part of learning to operate a drone is trying to obey all of the FAA rules that govern their operation. And I am still very much in the learning phase of almost everything to do with it.

There is magic out there waiting for all of us to find it. I hope you find some today and that it makes you smile.

(bigfoot) tracks of his appears

bare feet flat

close your book
turn off the car
when you look
be sure to look far

to make a decision
forget about speed
your soul's vision
is what you need

the King has risen
defeated hell
but in prison
do you still dwell

the doors unlock
and become free
go out and knock
on some tree

swing your bat
make your sound
bare feet flat
on the ground

The title of today’s post is a feeble attempt on my part to make a play on the words in the title of Smokey Robinson’s song “Tracks of My Tears.” Yesterday after I veered off of the bigfoot trail onto a mushroom coffee commercial I promised I would try to get back on track today. I mentioned we may even do something with bigfoot tracks and plaster casts of bigfoot tracks. Two of the speakers at the 2025 Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest were Thom Shay and Cliff Barackman. As you can read from the above paragraph there are photos of them in Monday’s blog post. I am including a link at the bottom of this post to a video with both of them in it. The video is from the Animal Planet show Finding Bigfoot. The video is 4 minutes.

I hope that you have great day and that you remember to smile a lot!
