in the woods

a mighty river
runs thru the land
from the mighty giver
thru his hands

all the boats
use its motion
it's a free float
a free ocean 

thru the tall woods
the deer and the bear
all that is good
appears in there

chimes with the creeks 
and the trails too
sometimes it speaks
to what ails you

along it rolls 
to the sea
calling all souls
to be free

rock the woods

let its rumble
take its toll
feel how humble
it makes your soul

feel its might
lonely its ride
it is the quiet
only amplified

heavy & damp
a cup of gin
heaven turns the amp
up to ten

mends the hurt
in the bones
attend the concert
without microphones

enjoy the static 
drums in the weather
Toys in the Attic
Come Together

go in the waves
fleets in the ocean
row like slaves
in Sweet Emotion

thunder paves
the waves roll
fun there not depraved
if it saves your soul

follow its lead
enjoy the show
all you really need 
is to let go

thunder over the woods
always rings true
you know it is good 
for the bigfoot too

I’m not sure how this happened. Somehow Aerosmith hijacked my poem about thunder this morning. It almost reminds me of a scene from the 1978 movie Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band where Aerosmith had Strawberry Fields tied up and Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees were trying to rescue her.

So if you don’t like the poem blame it on Aerosmith. It is being held hostage.

a lot of books

food bigfoot gathers
the ground unbroken
his conversation he'd rather
the sounds be unspoken

don't have to be near it
or in the tree line
to be able to hear it
in your mind

gentle he wades the weeds
he takes a good look
our mental states he reads
like an open book

he becomes well versed 
in how we can deal double
 he comes to see the worst
in man and his trouble

out in the in-between
he inspects our way
he's already seen
all of our x-rays

he remains uncaught
in the cold 
knows we've already been bought
and sold

tumbling dice
he watches us roll
humbling is the price 
for a soul

a bird is near
but not in hand
a word is a spear
if you understand

a spear to shake
with wit & grace
maybe to make
world a better place 

a pen and paper
are all you need
to pull off a caper
at high speed

from the ether they flow
beating like a drum
all you have to know
is that they come

thru the thatched roof
listen for their call
their truth catch
as they fall

they have been put
thru your hands
even on bigfoot
the truth lands

are not what they seem

as night falls
out in the trees
as he calls
the owl still sees

danger hovers
all of it vicious 
best take cover
if you're small & delicious

from his stoop
it's pretty certain
with one swoop
it'll be final curtains

under the stars
in your dreams
the owls are 
not what they seem

the big and blurry
they offer advice
it's better to hurry
than to taste nice

occupy a special space

David Lynch was clever
that much was clear
but was he ever
really even here

he was able to fly
in mystery and grace
he and bigfoot occupy
a special space

like a popsicle
or the start of a rain
they both tickle
the heart and the brain

belief can be tough
a burden to bear
sometimes it is enough
just to be aware
