Purple Haze in the holler

22JUL25

to help him hide

the singing birds
the fog is thick
waiting for the words
that the ether picks

I am optimistic
maybe even lazy
the path of the mystic
is often thru the hazy

able to tarry
I'm in no hurry
no burden I carry
we embrace the blurry

Purple Haze
with Jimi Hendrix
hope we'll be amazed
by what the pen picks

beginning of the day
bigfoot's smile is wide
just one more way
to help him hide

I am in the holler where I grew up this morning. In a little over an hour me and the photo bird will be flying above orange tractors on a hill top trying to figure things out. My brother and I spent a lot of time in hayfields when we were growing up. Back then it was all square bales. That type of hay was a lot more labor intensive than the round bales that he puts up today. I will probably write some more about the the hay in the next few days as I hang out in the holler with my brother and our family.

There are a lot of memories here. I am sure some of them will find their way onto the blog. As a matter of fact I suspect that they will probably force their way onto it. I think that we are all kind of like galleries that carry our pictures and memories with us. We should probably all spend some time periodically picking which ones to keep, treasure and exhibit and which ones to get rid of.

I hope you have a great day with smiles all around.

Here is the link for information.(Link removed after event.)

anything includes bigfoot

breathe the air
inhale and blow
and be aware
of what you don't know

find the miracle
in it all
make your circle
bigger on the wall

search the light
and be wowed
aim your flight
thru the clouds

just keep cooking
it will be good
& know he's looking
from the woods

The lines above that read make your circle bigger on the wall are in reference to a quote that I read from Albert Einstein.

“As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness around it.”

Albert Einstein

In this quote the circle of knowledge represents our current awareness and the circumference of darkness represents all that we don’t know. The more we learn the more we become aware of the vastness of what we still do not know. In many ways that is where this blog lives. We are in that circle of light looking into that wall of darkness known as the unknown. Actually the unknown is mentioned in our manifesto.

And as we look into that space we feel the stirrings of the preacher, the mystics, the shamans and the saints of old deep in our souls. Maybe even sometimes we are like James Bond’s drink “shaken, not stirred.”

Bigfoot isn’t the only thing that haunts this world. There is mystical beauty that haunts this world as well. Actually he is probably part of it. It is my hope that the awareness of both of them makes you smile today and really everyday.
