Legends of the Mountains Townhall

Poems

bigfoot walks

08APR26

the paths of the saints

bigfoot knows
wings of endurance
he forgoes
the slings of insurance

flies in the face
of known science
mixes grace
with his defiance

throws gravel & rock
into a pond
doesn't dabble in stocks
and bonds

has no stockbroker
to build wealth
is a nonsmoker
clean bill of health

silly in the woods
on a strange trip
really very good
at giving us the slip

the bigfoot talk
thru legends we paint
as they walk
the paths of the saints

Enjoy your Wednesday.

Poems

just a drop

15MAR26

in the pond

good is a word
to try to be fair
it is a bird
that flies in the air

thru the veil
walk the free
and set sail
thru the trees

on their wings
they are blown
so many things
that stay unknown

in they pop
from the beyond
just a drop
in the pond

it's a weird trip
to try to know
maybe just dip
in one toe

it'll get wetter
the deeper you go
sometimes it's better
not to know

Enjoy your Sunday.

Poems

bigfoot they describe

26FEB26

going way back

Second Corinthians
Four Eighteen
think the Indians
can see the unseen

the ear of corn
down to the kernel
their tribe born
into the eternal

most of the tribes
consider it a fact
bigfoot they describe
going way back

is no window
in the teepee
but they seem to know
more than me

eternity speaks
thru the trees
maybe the "Twin Peaks"
are teepees

David Lynch week continues. Actually if you look at the Manifesto in the Drop Down Menu you will see one of his movies mentioned. So hopefully he has been with us in spirit on our journey. Enjoy your Thursday.

Poems

to honor David Lynch

24FEB26

and bigfoot

forever in between
does it speak
was it ever seen
in Twin Peaks

get in our head
some sign hand us
does it put its lead
on some kind of canvas

does it rhyme
with reading the news
spend its time
in running shoes

before the bench
its argument put
to honor David Lynch
and bigfoot

does it send
in our dreams
through our friends
in the memes

is its pleasure
your North Pole
does it measure
our heart and soul

This could be turning into David Lynch Week. Enjoy your Tuesday.

Poems

off of a cliff

23FEB26

you just drove

inch by inch
reality rearrange
David Lynch
enter the strange

and what if
the range is a stove
off of a cliff
you just drove

Heaven is calling
the Bible quoting
are you falling
or are you floating

yourself pinch
lose the blues
bigfoot and Lynch
hold the clues

I have always had this eerie feeling that there is a lot of overlap in the worlds of 2 of my favorite subjects. Bigfoot and David Lynch have always seemed to float in the same vibe.

Enjoy your Monday. I hope it will be a great week for you.

Poems

they have seen

22FEB26

and lived thru it all

trees make an introduction
evening and morning
it is filled with instruction
and even a warning

about the in between
and the big and tall
they have seen
and lived thru it all

the wind is hissing
the forest's insistence
don't go missing
in your own existence

it is a hard school
pay close attention
there are different rules
for different dimensions

so be wise
more to contemplate
open your eyes
before it's too late

Enjoy your Sunday.

Poems

are you delusional

21FEB26

flying a little light

bigfoot is a smile
are you dreamimg
a look at his file
will keep it gleaming

he is brain candy
out of this world taste
time to get handy
with the toothpaste

bigfoot is a smirk
your sanity's glue
no matter how much work
that he makes you do

are you delusional
flying a little light
if you're constitutional
it may be your right

I just read an article on xylitol and its uses for oral health. That is probably what steered me down this road for this mornings poem : ) Enjoy your Saturday.

Poems

not called grasshopper

20FEB26

by a wisdom teller

bigfoot does not explain
what is true
he is not Kwai-Chang Caine
in Kung Fu

keeps an oath
he does not lose
and they both
don't wear shoes

he is a hill topper
and a mountain dweller
not called grasshopper
by a wisdom teller

he did not start this
to try to trip you
not a martial artist
but he can whip you

but they both roll
on a path true
& seem to know their soul
better than we do

One of my favorite stories is that the Allman Brothers Band used to have to wait until later at night to start their rehearsals because Dickey Betts had to wait until he had watched Kung Fu before he could show up. Kung Fu was a really neat show that tried to teach lot of lessons about life and people.

Enjoy your Friday!

Poems

give them grief

19FEB26

then you be the judge

the majestic stallion
rears in its fury
the bigfoot research battalion
refuses the jury

in their belief
they do not budge
give them grief
then you be the judge

tracks in the mud
almost always informal
flesh and blood
or paranormal

crazy clues
could they be true
guess it depends on who
you're talking to

the blowing winds
through the stallion's mane
even their friends
think that they're insane

Part of the inspiration for today’s poem comes from some books that I read as a young boy growing up. The Golden Stallion was a series of books written by Rutherford George Montgomery. I think the first one was published in 1962. I read a lot of books and constantly looked at a set of World Books that our mom bought for us. That along with the 2 channels that we got with our roof top antenna and the Newsweek magazine that she subscribed to were our windows to the world.

And I have already mentioned in a previous blog post that my uncle Bob drove me to a movie theatre in St. Paul VA where we watched the Patterson-Gimlin film on the big screen. Uncle Bob was a character. I hope that every young kid will be lucky enough to have a crazy uncle.

Enjoy your Thursday.

Poems

but he will float

18FEB26

along in your clouds

bigfoot is PB&J
between two slices of bread
coming down the runway
flying into your head

read the many notes
he avoids the crowds
but he will float
along in your clouds

marvel at the speed
feel your thirst pass
you have all you need
you're in first class

carefully watch this event
pay very close attention
we have begun our final descent
into another dimension

Thom Cantrall passed away a few days ago. A Flash of Beauty did a video with him about 5 months ago. It is in the Bigfoot Videos section of the Drop Down Menu. You should watch a few minutes of it. I have watched it a few times and I know I will return to it again and again. He tells a lot of stories about his experiences with bigfoot. But the thing that keeps me coming back to watch it again is the calmness in his spirit and voice that is just so pleasant to listen to.

One of the things he talks about is respect for everyone and respect for the earth and the environment. That kind of falls in line with what we were discussing yesterday with the Sierra Club and the other groups. A lot of the bigfooters are getting older and a lot of them are passing away. We are very fortunate that A Flash of Beauty is able to do these interview videos so that they can share some of what that they have learned over the many years that they have dealt with this mystery.

Enjoy your Wednesday. Do it with a smile. If you read the poem carefully and pay attention to the capitalization you will pick up on my reverence for peanut butter : )
