lady of the lake

Poems

bigfoot & David Lynch

06JUL26

peeking twins

they set sail
as either looks
they both smell
what the ether cooks

lady of the lake
song sung blue
have a different take
strong & true

take their mind
give it wings
know you'll find
it riveting

they're both speaking
in the wind
they're both peeking
like twins

Enjoy your Monday. I hope it is a great week for all of us. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

This is another post about David Lynch. For those of you who are not familiar with him I will explain some of the lines. Peeking twins is a reference to his TV show Twin Peaks. His films and TV shows were very different to say the least. So that is where the line ” have a different take” comes from. Both he and bigfoot seem like they are from somewhere else. And both seem to be pointing at things we don’t know about. That is where the line “smell what the ether cooks” comes from. And the line “lady of the lake” kind of riffs on the mythical nature that they both share. And it points to the fact that there seems to be an awfully lot hidden and unrevealed.

Poems

smiles made free

05FEB26

as the day breaks

memes to friends
still they roll
seams in the wind
fill the soul

blows in the trees
free they ride
knows the free
sees them hide

escapes the death
of the law
is the next breath
that you draw

life is not a sprint
it goes on
you are sent
for a marathon

smiles made free
as the day breaks
by the Lady
of the Lake

answer the call
climb on board
as the water falls
from the sword

in her hand
as light as a feather
time to get the band
back together

lots of surprises
to be met out there
as your spirit rises
with Excalibur

the Thunder rumbles
the sword has risen
time to stumble
out of your prison

time to try
the words you see
time to fly
with the birds & the bees

Enjoy your Thursday.

Poems

lady of the lake’s stare

12NOV25

as she is submerged

helps you see clearer
below the scars
bigfoot is a mirror
shows you who you are

makes you aware
of how things converge
lady of the lake's stare
as she is submerged

brings you on board
out of the sinking sand
holding a sword
in her sinking hand

we follow the plot
out in the mist
some say Camelot
that it still exists

I am back in Louisville this morning. I put a deposit on 2 motorcycles in Lexington yesterday. I will be using them in the GoPro video section of the Drop Down Menu that currently exists only as a concept in my mind. There will probably be a lot more You Tube Shorts with the bikes and the GoPro. Of course just one You Tube Short would be more at this point because I haven’t done any. One bike is strictly road and the other one can go off road so I should be able to get to most places I want to film. The editing software will allow me to mix music with the motorcycle sounds. I just have to figure out how to do it.

But the more immediate task is getting them back to the holler. I am pretty sure that it is good to have hoops to jump through in life. I keep telling myself that anyway. I hope that you make it through all your hoops today. And I hope that you have a lot of fun doing it.

Poems

like Salvador Dali

23AUG25

dropping his spoon

my blurred lenses
should I clean
like Mercedes-Benzes
into the unseen

like Muhammad Ali
a poetic tune
like Salvador Dali
dropping his spoon

let it rip
quote the sky
like the Louisvile Lip
float like a butterfly

lack of focus
lets the ideas flow
it's hocus pocus
the magic show

take a peep
at the lady of the lake
somewhere between sleep
and being awake

take your turn
in the surreal
and maybe learn
if bigfoot is real

get up to speed
read between the lines
what is really freed
is your mind

keep exploring
use your wings
don't be boring
"& know everything"

work your style
in a new space
with a smile
on your face

find the new wrinkle
that lets you fly
get that twinkle
in your eye

it will be sweet
it will be true
as you meet
the real you

The title of this post and the poem (a term I use loosely : )) refers to Salvador Dali’s habit of falling asleep in a chair or sofa holding a metal spoon over a metal plate. As soon as he dozed off enough to drop the spoon he would jump up and begin to paint. He was trying to access that world in between being asleep and being awake where creativity seems to live. A lot of successful and creative people have used short naps to fuel their creativity and their success.

There seems to be a feeling among a lot of writers that they do not so much write as receive something that is being given to them. It is kind of like they are a vessel that is being filled. I think that is probably the reason that so many great poems and songs have been written on pieces of scrap paper and napkins.

To me it is kind of like magic in a way. I think each of us have magic in us that we can perform every day. Maybe it is making someone smile or giggle or just being nice and polite to someone. It will make you feel better than it does them. It is kind of like when they say that prayer helps the person doing the praying more than the person being prayed for.

We all have a top hat and a rabbit to go in it. We just need to find them and remember to take them with us. They will take it from there.

So feed the rabbit. Brush off the hat. And off you go!

Poems

bigfoot drinks magic water

out of the ether

the words come
hear them call
beat like a drum
as they fall

take a breather
a story to tell
out of the ether
to cast a spell

I am a sailor
I am not a witch
I am a tailor
my job to stitch

box the clothes
that we make
the box goes
to the lady of the lake

as the box sinks
forever more
bigfoot drinks
from the shore

For any. of you checking in to see your photos from the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest I posted a link to them in Monday’s blog post. The title of the post is “bigfoot fun in the Gorge” and the title to the poem is “KBFRO throws a bigfoot party.” The link to the photos and the videos is at the bottom of the post. I hope you like your photo.

More than one article that I have read about bigfoot has tried to draw a connection between him and Merlin. Both seem to exist in the land of magic and myth. And having some myth and magic in your life is probably a good thing.

I am out the door this morning to try to get the drone memory card formatted and practice capturing flying video footage so I can begin learning how to edit it and get it up on this blog. I live within the 5 mile radius of of a small airport so I have to travel out of that before I can fly the drone. A big part of learning to operate a drone is trying to obey all of the FAA rules that govern their operation. And I am still very much in the learning phase of almost everything to do with it.

There is magic out there waiting for all of us to find it. I hope you find some today and that it makes you smile.

Poems

bigfoot lake

in your heart

from the beach
lady of the lake
feel her reach
your heartache

find it shoved
into a stone
what you loved
is not gone

how Excalibur
glistens in the sun
shall be there
when all is done

it still gives
does its part
as long as it lives
in your heart

And just in case this is not bigfoot enough for any of you, I’ll throw in some more optional verses.

so keep watch
& do not sleep
just in case Sasquatch
tries to peep

watch the clock
I think you should
could be some rocks
thrown from the woods

Enjoy your Sunday : )
