white clouds

30AUG25

make no sound

white clouds
make no sound
hang proud
above the ground

stop and stare
listen to their song
will not be there
very long

words rearrange
make this rhyme
most things change
all of the time

fill this report
with humor & mirth
our time is short
on this earth

bigfoot is a ghost
stays out of the way
says to make the most
of every single day

learn our power
and how to pray
and smell the flowers
along the way

the morning dew
birds and the bees
wait for you
out in the trees

Enjoy this Saturday and your Labor Day weekend!

Poems

hear an angel’s wing

22AUG25

as it flutters

like the notes
on an acoustic guitar
the ink floats
like in a luxury car

the ink sings
wisdom it utters
hear an angel's wing
as it flutters

my hand follows
where the ink leads
sunset in the hollow
crickets in the weeds

bigfoot is fun
and always around
we watch the sun
as it goes down

I am temporarily halting the editing of the bush hog video that I mentioned on Monday. There are more than a few slow moving backing scenes in that video. And I am going to let my brother decide how much of that he wants to in include in the video. But I will have it set up so all that we have to do is delete those scenes. And then it should be fast and easy to publish it. Should be. Famous last words : ) I guess we’ll see.

I am returning to the holler in early September. I plan to shoot several more drone videos on this trip. I damaged some of my propellers on the last trip. dji is the dominant drone manufacturer and supplier of drones. They are located in China. There is a severe shortage of parts including propellers. You can buy a lot of replacement propellers. But a lot of the reviewers on Amazon claim that there can be a problem with flight stability with some of the propellers that they have ordered. I plan to try to fly the bird over bridges on creeks and rivers to capture some of the beautiful Appalachian scenery that I grew up in. And for that I would really like to have the OEM propellers on the bird. We’ll see how it all works out.

I hope that all of your projects work out and turn out great. And I hope that you have a great weekend!

questions and doubts

18AUG25

as the rocks flew

screams and shouts
as the rocks flew
questions and doubts
we've got those too

a giant mystery
to say the least
legend or history
of a mythical beast

are you cooler
what width do you find
when you take a ruler
and measure your mind

imaginary or real
and just able to hide
maybe a lot of the appeal
is the difficulty to decide

the ability to bore
bigfoot has none
he just opens the door
to some goofy fun

Today I will be working on getting a video of my brother operating a bush hog in the same field that the other videos were shot in edited. They bale the hay on the more level ground. And then they run the bush hog to clear the land that is not suitable to run the rake and baler over. I guess that you could say that the bush hog is kind of like a heavy duty lawn mower that they pull behind the tractor. It will probably be a slower moving video. But it should be up on the blog by today or tomorrow unless I run into some type of issue.

I hope that today is a good start to your week!

Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival Starts Today

07AUG25

where the bigfoot convene

the wind is blowin'
the shutters are slappin'
with a sense of not knowin'
what'll be happening

beyond the fence
it has already gone
leaving a sense
of things unknown

try to prepare
with what you know
but do you dare
to let your mind blow

a power is wielding
in the trees unseen
it's this type of building
where the bigfoot convene

the bigfoot administration
laws and rules amended
but no invitation
will be extended

but to be cool
& avoid getting maimed
I would obey their rules
just the same

Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival is starting today. I am sure the tents are already up. All of the listings on google mention 200 acres. That is impressive to say the least. I am not sure if I am going.

I will probably skip it and try to focus on getting some more of the drone footage edited. I tried to take a break from it yesterday and still managed to spend huge chunks of time sampling music to try and find something to give the videos the right vibe. This blog is kind of like a mountain with a lot of rabbit holes in it. And the rabbit hole where you go to search for the “perfect” music should be closely monitored. I probably should start setting some type of alarm.

The Woodbooger Festival in Norton, VA will be 26-28SEP25. I will probably attend that since it is very close to my hometown. I did 2 posts on Norton earlier in the year. I did one post on the Wood Booger Grill and the second post was on the Woodbooger Sanctuary at High Knob. You can find the posts in the bigfoot section of the drop down menu. You may notice that the Grill uses 2 words while the sanctuary and the festival combine them.

I hope that you you enjoy your day and that you find many things to smile about : )

the 100th post

06AUG25

a poem 4 the 100th post

live in a castle
made of thin air
suffer no hassle
refuse to despair

some call it a pile
point their finger tips
we call it a smile
thru our crooked lips

we hear the toll
of bigfoot's bell
calling all souls
to come set sail

we make rhymes
that fly the skies
take the good times
and let them fly

need some proof
here is a clue
nothing but goof
in all we do

I want to be sure to remind you about the Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival that starts tomorrow and runs thru Sunday. I am still not sure if I am going to go or not. I still have a lot of video editing in front of me. Last night I put a video of my brother putting up hay in the holler where I grew up on the blog in the drone flyover section of the drop down menu. I shot a lot of footage over 4 days last week. So there will probably be more videos to follow. I am just not sure when I will get them up on the blog.

Back on 07FEB25 a good friend sent me a text suggesting that I should start a blog. After I read the text I googled “what is a blog?” That started an adventure with me almost constantly asking Google “how do you…?” A lot of times I would be attempting to do something on one laptop while googling on the other one to figure out how to do it. And then sometimes I would be googling on a cell phone to try and figure out how to do what Google had just told me to do.

Since I have started the blog I have started a lot of days knowing that I had to do something that I didn’t know how to do. After a while that is a comforting feeling because a lot of the time it is a struggle just to figure out what you have to do. I guess this is a round about way of saying that this is all a learning process for me. Those of you who have been reading the blog all along probably already know this.

The blog is better than it was a few months ago and hopefully it will be even better in the times to come. There is a tremendous amount of fun in finding out about and learning new things. I guess it is a type of exploration. The blog is a lot of fun for me. And I hope that it is fun for you. If it is not then you really owe it to yourself to end the suffering and find something that is fun for you.

In a way the blog is…

a kind of book
a bell that tolls
to take a look
into our own souls

& I look forward to traveling thru it with you as bigfoot watches from out in the trees and probably wonders why we goof off so much…

Poems

hauling hay today

25JUL25

the wisdom that frees

floating thru the sky
I am flying thru
quoting thoughts high
at least trying to

for wisdom I slave
and try to find
that those in the grave
have left behind

into the unknown
angel wings I ride
words from tombstones
they are my guide

have to be bold
and aware of my sin
what was old
will be new again

the wisdom that frees
put in my files
bigfoot watches from the trees
and wisely smiles

I just got back from the hilltop hayfield where I was flying and filming in the light at sunrise. I was taking shots of the field with the round hay bales in it. I have to meet those guys in a few minutes to film them as they begin the process of moving the bales to a different location and stacking them so they will be easier to distribute during the winter. It will be 2 tractors again. But this time they will have a spear on the front and one on the back so they can move the round hay bales 2 per tractor. In about a week you should be able to see it all in the drone flyover videos section of the drop down menu.

I am going to try to shoot some shots on their first trip because the light will be better then than later in the day. I hope you find beauty in your day. And I hope that it makes you smile.

from the holler : )

Purple Haze in the holler

22JUL25

to help him hide

the singing birds
the fog is thick
waiting for the words
that the ether picks

I am optimistic
maybe even lazy
the path of the mystic
is often thru the hazy

able to tarry
I'm in no hurry
no burden I carry
we embrace the blurry

Purple Haze
with Jimi Hendrix
hope we'll be amazed
by what the pen picks

beginning of the day
bigfoot's smile is wide
just one more way
to help him hide

I am in the holler where I grew up this morning. In a little over an hour me and the photo bird will be flying above orange tractors on a hill top trying to figure things out. My brother and I spent a lot of time in hayfields when we were growing up. Back then it was all square bales. That type of hay was a lot more labor intensive than the round bales that he puts up today. I will probably write some more about the the hay in the next few days as I hang out in the holler with my brother and our family.

There are a lot of memories here. I am sure some of them will find their way onto the blog. As a matter of fact I suspect that they will probably force their way onto it. I think that we are all kind of like galleries that carry our pictures and memories with us. We should probably all spend some time periodically picking which ones to keep, treasure and exhibit and which ones to get rid of.

I hope you have a great day with smiles all around.

Poems

terror in the woods

21JUL25

the last time

have some terror
maybe you should
go make an error
in his woods

want to make haste
bigfoot will raise the bar
as you get chased
back to your car

iPhone or android
wings will be grounded
as you try to avoid
getting pounded

keep your heart rate
under a watchful eye
no one can elevate
it like the big guy

away you flee
your life saved
maybe next time you'll be
a little better behaved

as bigfoot hides
and inspires rhymes
some people decide
it's the last time

the big guy's control
is still strong
that may have been his goal
all along

This will be a short post. So far the plan is for my brother to start mowing hay on Tuesday morning. So I am headed that way so I can have the photo bird in the sky above him as he starts circling the field on top of the hill with 2 of his tractors. Hopefully it will make for a fun and interesting video. In a few weeks you can be the judge.

I hope you start your week with a smile and the expectation that you will have fun thru it all.

Poems

time to go

09JUL25

it would be wise

the last rhyme
a false alarm
but this time
I leave the farm

flow the words
in this space
the photo bird
is in its case

head more urban
set a course
land of bourbon
and a fast horse

as the moon falls
and the fuel burns
the holler calls
for us to return

out in the trees
beneath the skies
bigfoot agrees
it would be wise

Yesterday I shot some more drone footage. This morning I am packed and ready to go. On my way back I am going to scout a few locations that I want to fly the winged camera over. But the priority when I get back will be to get this trip’s footage edited and up on the blog. My brother is waiting to cut and bail hay. He will need about 3 or 4 days of dry weather to do that. So as soon as the weather clears. I will return to the holler to fly over the hayfield for a few days. That should be 2 orange tractors circling a green field on a hill top. Hopefully that will translate into beautiful scenery on the drone.

But this morning I am returning to my routine. And that should mean returning back to a more steady and productive blog posting schedule. Whether or not that is a good thing I will leave up to you.

I am out the door and on the road. I hope you have a good day & find many things that plant a smile on your face.
