Poems

bigfoot hunting

23JUN26

revealing in a way

facts will be taught
as bigfoot is hunted
bigfoot can't be caught
that will be confronted

not a simple ape
he'll scan your surprises
he will escape
your plans & devices

could be a smelly trip
the stink of it
bigfoot is already hip
before you think of it

you do all the work
as bigfoot hides & plays
wonder if he smirks
as he glides away

Poems

free like bigfoot

22JUN26

on mountains & motorbikes

motorbikes & mountains
they are the truth
kind of like fountains
fountains of youth

give you wings
to be free on
like the springs
of Ponce de Leon

they are an escape
keeping you free
like a big ape
peeping from a tree

it can't be denied
they may be expensive
just make sure you ride
safe & defensive

Enjoy your Monday. I hope this will be a great week for you. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Poems

bigfoot needs

21JUN26

a big quilt

a flower unfolds
in the day's hot light
things we've been told
may not be right

bigfoot rolled
he's still in the woods
things we've been told
are they still good

is truth immortal
& not let to change
or does it go thru a portal
& got to get strange

with many players
it has been built
may be many layers
to this quilt

Poems

a bigfoot break

20JUN26

it may be time

the open road
may do you good
it's a heavy load
a monster in the woods

all that greenery
a cryptid seed
a change of scenery
the gift you need

time to discover
there is no fault
in laying some rubber
on some asphalt

open a bottle
of magic elixir
pull back the throttle
on a gixxer

go have some fun
leave the man in the trees
time to run
from all the insanity

don't let it grieve you
as you play
no one would believe you
anyway

Enjoy your Saturday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Yesterday I spent a lot of time riding the motorcycles filming with the GoPro. So between the riding and working with the footage on a computer screen I saw the open road a lot. That is probably part of the inspiration for this poem. We are getting closer to getting the motorcycle videos up on YouTube.

Poems

bigfoot roams

19JUN26

in a book

steel your nerves
if you hear whoops
beautiful are the curves
when a pen swoops

bigfoot can yell
his eyes can glow
a pen can tell
you something to know

laying down tracks
meet the escaper
playing with facts
on a sheet of paper

where did he go
hidden you think
pen is a video
written in ink

into the unknown
time to look
put down the phone
read a book

Poems

bigfoot rocks

18JUN26

‘n’ rolls

swirling pens
inks splatter
all my sins
leave me in tatters

Noah & the ark
along they roll
leaving their mark
on all souls

a sound calls
a spinning platter
saying this is all
that really matters

sings to your heart
makes you whole
is Heaven's art
really rock 'n' roll

in bigfoot we trust
as he hides & blurs
in this he might just
decide to concur

Enjoy your Thursday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Actually there are a lot of stories about bigfoot and dogman getting angry and aggressive because of loud music in the woods. Consider yourself warned (possibly by a lunatic : )).

Poems

bigfoot & the mountains

17JUN26

& me

the mountains are calling
out my name
there is no stalling
they stake their claim

they light a flame
watch it burn
like a horse tamed
make my return

wear their bridle
wherever I roam
the pull is tidal
pulling me home

in the in between
here & there
the big & unseen
hear & stare

on we go
right or wrong
we both know
where we belong

The title to today’s poem is a nod to a famous bluegrass song by the Osborne Brothers in 1972. The line in the song is ” Ancient home of the Creek and the Cherokee and me.” The song’s title is Georgia Pineywoods. Most of you are probably more familiar with their song Rocky Top. But Georgia Pineywoods seems to dive deeper into the struggle to transition from “chickens cacklin’ out in the pen” to modern life.

Both Rocky Top and Georgia Piney Woods were written by Bourdleaux and Felice Bryant. They wrote many other hits. They had met when she was working as an elevator operator. They eloped 5 days after meeting. She recognized him immediately from a dream that she had when she was 8 years old. She said she had “looked for him forever.” The Everly Brothers hit All I Have To Do Is Dream is based on her experience.(Wikipedia)

Poems

bigfoot, Bonanza & Gunsmoke

16JUN26

ruled the ’60s

lines I'm fillin'
rhymes & jokes
like Marshall Dillon
on Gunsmoke

words I throw
into a stanza
little Joe on a pinto
in Bonanza

themes I toss
with all that
kinda like Hoss
in a tall hat

bigfoot may test us
with a case of trouble
along with Festus
& a face full of stubble

a fire burns
across the screen
we try to learn
about the unseen

bigfoot is a riddle
that's still in the night
he won't play second fiddle
to Matt Dillon or Ben Cartwright

laying down big tracks
talking with mindspeak
a cowboy on horseback
filmed her at Bluff Creek

Poems

bigfoot & the orbs

15JUN26

the owls see

I absorb quotes
my mind they free
an orb floats
in a line of trees

they say bigfoot howls
& he also screams
"you know the owls
are not what they seem"

the natural is super
in Heaven the designer
agent Dale Cooper
coffee in a diner

take a big wrench
to unscrew this nut
did David Lynch
just yell "cut"

Enjoy your Monday. Hope this is a great week for all of us. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Today’s poem takes a dive back into the world of David Lynch & Twin Peaks. The blog is a big fan of his vision and work. He is referenced in our Manifesto. And he has made his way into many poems and posts along the way. As I have mentioned several times before there is crossover in the world of bigfoot and Lynch. They are both associated with the Pacific Northwest. But their activity and influence spread far beyond there. Travelers in the imagination know no boundaries.

Poems

bigfoot forgoes

14JUN26

the library card

bigfoot takes his looks
into the skies
he has no books
but he is still wise

big and hairy
as he looks back
no big library
with books in stacks

dark is the night
and just as long
still he knows the right
from the wrong

all of his trust
we have worn away
or maybe he was just
born that way

Enjoy your Sunday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

In the 3rd stanza there is a nod to Blind Willie Johnson and his famous blues song Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground. It is a song that is revered by almost all who know much about blues music. Ry Cooder has based songs on it. He along with many others have spoken and written at length about it. The song was included on the Voyager Golden Record that was launched into space in 1977. Johnson became blind at the age of 7 when his stepmother threw lye in his face while she was in a fight with his father. It is a haunting song.
