at Snake River Canyon

bigfoot has appeal 
it is not his fault
he's the rolling wheel
on the asphalt 

there he stands
beneath the stars
he is the hands
on the handlebars

he checks on our condition
to see what condition it's in 
he knows our ignition
and how we should begin

he knows some arithmetic
that we do not learn 
he can start us with a kick
or with a key turn

all of the sasquatch
stand at the door
what we should watch
is what we ask for

no matter how much
we want to see tracks
once we pop that clutch
there's no turning back 

to ride that wheelie
there on the back wheel
do we really 
want bigfoot to reveal

is he good or evil
is he a trusty companion
we are all Evel Knievel
at Snake River Canyon

into the tall timber
are we sent
because we all remember
how that went

before we all scoot
into the unknown
we know that the parachute
sometimes opens on its own

In 1974 Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon. His parachute deployed early and he was unsuccessful. You can still go there and see the huge dirt ramp that he used. To me the whole thing is kind of like bigfoot. It is almost completely unbelievable but it still gives me the biggest smile.
