David Lynch

Poems

bigfoot allows

06OCT26

you into his dream

the tree is wide
the top is green
on the other side
he is not seen

if all is quiet
not a sound
then he might
be around

he is the boss
it's time you knew
may do a road cross
right in front of you

they say the owls
are not what they seem
bigfoot allows
you into his dream

Enjoy your Tuesday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

“The owls are not what they seem” is from David Lynch’s Twin Peaks TV show. If you are a longtime reader of the blog you have seen it before.

Poems

bigfoot & David Lynch

23JUL26

are both strong paddlers

both full of woo
out of Seattle
it's a big canoe
they both paddle

it's a strange brew
they both stir
everything they do
it's in a blur

both have Peeks
depends how you spell it
when their minds speak
they both yell it

they're off the bench
& in the game
bigfoot & David Lynch
they're the same

hold their towels
watch their dreams
know the owls
are not what they seem

Enjoy your Thursday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Today we return to the theme of David Lynch and the real estate that he seems to share with bigfoot. The woo refers to paranormal in the world of bigfoot. If you have watched any of Lynch’s creations you already know that his story lines are usually drenched in the paranormal and unexplainable. The Peeks is a reference to his TV show Twin Peaks. And in case you’re wondering bigfoot’s peeks are from behind a tree : ). And the “owls are not what they seem” is a famous line from that show. There is quite a bit of information on the internet about just that one phrase.

The spirit of Lynch has sailed with us from the time we launched. His 1986 movie Blue Velvet is mentioned in the blog’s manifesto. For those of you who prefer a more normal movie, check out Straight Story. It is a straightforward story that stars Richard Farnsworh who earned an Academy Award nomination for his work in the film.

Poems

bigfoot & David Lynch

06JUL26

peeking twins

they set sail
as either looks
they both smell
what the ether cooks

lady of the lake
song sung blue
have a different take
strong & true

take their mind
give it wings
know you'll find
it riveting

they're both speaking
in the wind
they're both peeking
like twins

Enjoy your Monday. I hope it is a great week for all of us. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

This is another post about David Lynch. For those of you who are not familiar with him I will explain some of the lines. Peeking twins is a reference to his TV show Twin Peaks. His films and TV shows were very different to say the least. So that is where the line ” have a different take” comes from. Both he and bigfoot seem like they are from somewhere else. And both seem to be pointing at things we don’t know about. That is where the line “smell what the ether cooks” comes from. And the line “lady of the lake” kind of riffs on the mythical nature that they both share. And it points to the fact that there seems to be an awfully lot hidden and unrevealed.

Poems

bigfoot & the orbs

15JUN26

the owls see

I absorb quotes
my mind they free
an orb floats
in a line of trees

they say bigfoot howls
& he also screams
"you know the owls
are not what they seem"

the natural is super
in Heaven the designer
agent Dale Cooper
coffee in a diner

take a big wrench
to unscrew this nut
did David Lynch
just yell "cut"

Enjoy your Monday. Hope this is a great week for all of us. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

Today’s poem takes a dive back into the world of David Lynch & Twin Peaks. The blog is a big fan of his vision and work. He is referenced in our Manifesto. And he has made his way into many poems and posts along the way. As I have mentioned several times before there is crossover in the world of bigfoot and Lynch. They are both associated with the Pacific Northwest. But their activity and influence spread far beyond there. Travelers in the imagination know no boundaries.

Poems

David Lynch & bigfoot

22MAY26

occupy a special space

David Lynch was clever
that much was clear
but was he ever
really even here

he was able to fly
in mystery and grace
he and bigfoot occupy
a special space

like a popsicle
or the start of a rain
they both tickle
the heart and the brain

belief can be tough
a burden to bear
sometimes it is enough
just to be aware

There are many references throughout the blog to Lynch and his work. One of his movies is listed in our manifesto. MUCH RESPECT.

Enjoy your Friday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

The Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest will be held in Stanton KY on 30MAY26.

Poems

following the thunder claps

02APR26

might be the best

let's just suppose
there is more to find
better not to close
the door in your mind

Wide Open Spaces
the Dixie Chicks
meet new faces
learn new tricks

throw away the maps
and the GPS
following the thunder claps
might be the best

It's a New Day
the morning sun
as Springsteen would say
we're Born to Run

Morning Has Broken
the dew glistens
bigfoot has mind spoken
will you listen

the Allman Brothers howl
on about Dreams
"the owls
are not what they seem"

I may be guilty of littering this poem with too many pop culture references. For that I apologize. For the readers that might not be familiar with some of them I will attempt to list them.

Wide Open Spaces is a song by the Dixie Chicks.

It’s a New Day is a line from Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

Born To Run is a historically famous song by none other than the “BOSS” Bruce Springsteen.

Morning Has Broken is a song by Cat Stevens. I think he now goes by Yusuf Islam. I just learned that this song was originally written by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931 as a Hymn. (Wikipedia). This song has a unique memory for me. My freshman year in college I had a psychology class that started at 8AM. The professor would always have this song playing in the classroom as we arrived and the class started. It was like he was providing this peaceful space in this wild and crazy experience.

Dreams is a song by the Allman Brother’s Band. Their music has this other world quality to it a lot of the time. I have read that they wrote a lot of their music sitting in the Rose Hill Cemetery between tombstones overlooking the Ocmulgee River. I am pretty sure that the name Elizabeth Reed was taken off of one of the tombstones. Some of the band members are buried there today.

“the owls are not what they seem” is a famous line from David Lynch’s TV show Twin Peaks. You can google it. There is a lot of information about it on the internet. All of Lynch’s work definitely has an other world quality running through it. MUCH RESPECT.

And as far as an other world feeling goes the thunder claps have always kind of seemed like a phone ringing from somewhere else.

Enjoy your Thursday.

Poems

the things unseen

16MAR26

they are forever

2 Corinthians 4:18

the length of the night
it is long
there is strength in the quiet
of the strong

attend their school
no need for eyes
there's only one rule
that is no lies

don't need a screen
to be clever
the things unseen
they are forever

you can trust the tall
to know your soul
answer when they call
your name on the roll

learn life is hard
you'll have great days
you'll get a report card
with straight A's

We have mentioned several times the crossover or overlap between the world of David Lynch and the world of bigfoot. There is also a lot of crossover between bigfoot and the Bible. Both are full of mystery. And we will let you search out your own answers to the mysteries of all three. Like most of the things in life the journey is probably at least as important as the answer or destination. So try to be mindful and enjoy it.

Enjoy your Monday. I hope it will be a great week for you.

Poems

once you go thru

12MAR26

you never come back

bigfoot is a door
watch it revolve
mystery at its core
impossible to solve

think that you
are clever with tracks
once you go thru
you never come back

there are some bridges
not to be crossed
in the dermal ridges
you'll be lost

in the winds
and the rain
most of your friends
think you're insane

but you're not done
don't turn your badge in
you're having more fun
than you ever imagined

Enjoy your Thursday.

Poems

the owls

08MAR26

are not what they seem

life is hard
life is good
the security guard
of his woods

ignores the hands
on the clock
as he commands
his own block

a hazy sight
paving my rhymes
no daylight
savings time

Twin Peaks
on TV
mind speaks
as he flees

hear his howls
hear his screams
the owls
are not what they seem

in mysterious ways
totally bizarre
Purple Haze
without a guitar

This is another poem with a nod to David Lynch. “The owls are not what they seem” is a famous line from his TV show Twin Peaks. If you google that sentence you will find a wealth of information. And that information is kind of like the information on bigfoot. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it makes any kind of sense : )

And we lost an hour over night so that would be on my mind this morning.

I am making progress on aquiring and learning to use all of the equipment that will be needed to get the motorcycle videos up on YouTube. And there is more of a sense of urgency in that as the weather begins to warm up.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Poems

but I found

01MAR26

a Lost Highway

bigfoot is a dream
the pull of wishes
he is a stream
full of fishes

climbing salmon
roll and spawn
time to examine
our soul and beyond

pure is his look
is in videos
lure of his hook
the whole city knows

looking for a sign
tossed my way
what I find
is a Lost Highway

beside a lake
that heaven allows
with Robert Blake
and no eyebrows

strong is the drink
that Lynch stirs
hard to think
in a bigfoot blur

a head of steam
a gate to the past
spread the memes
curate and broadcast

be the herald
the bugle sound
make the world
go round

it's mixed bag
but we still try
to salute the flag
that we fly

The David Lynch theme continues. If you are curious about Robert Blake and no eyebrows you can google exactly that. There are even several you tube videos on that scene in Lost Highway. Enjoy your Sunday.
