does bigfoot track

23APR26

his health trends

does bigfoot get the flu
does he get bedridden
spread it to his crew
out there suffering & hidden

out in the woods
happy and sad
are his days good
and then bad

there and back
in the winds
does bigfoot track
his health trends

he carries the weight
as his soul soars
it makes him appreciate
the good days more

Enjoy your Thursday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

the hills & woods

07MAR26

are his stage

he is still good
at any age
the hills & woods
are his stage

he can mind speak
they are fairly certain
you cannot peak
behind the curtain

lives a long time
but not immortal
doesn't cost a dime
to go thru a portal

is as true
as an old hymn
knows more about you
than you do him

Enjoy your Saturday.

Poems

after they have gazed

04MAR26

into his eyes

a real myth
read the rumors
to deal with
may need some humor

some claim a wild ape
but there is a rift
it is his shape
some say he can shift

many have been amazed
like a man they realize
after they have gazed
into his eyes

peeps around a tree
a hex or a blessing
keeps you and me
perplexed and guessing

but it is a win
puts on a smile
make sure you do it in
bigfoot style

I went to the Apple Store yesterday for my appointment. The fact that I am sitting in a place called the “Genius Bar” always makes me smirk. Everything seems to be working okay. So hopefully everything will run smoothly until the next update. And hopefully they will run smoothly even then.

We are getting closer to warmer weather. So soon we will be trying to shoot the motorcycle/drone videos of the steep and curvy roads in Appalachia. Yesterday I got some motorcycle keys copied. I have only found one locksmith in Louisville that carries the blanks for motorcycle keys. A Cheaper Locksmith in Middletown has been able to make copies of all of my motorcycle keys. So I highly recommend them. I looked at trying to order the blanks on the internet. But there seemed to be a little leeway in whether the blanks would work or not for my bikes. To me it is a lot better to let the locksmith look at it and do it on the spot or tell you he can get the right key. So I highly recommend A Cheaper Locksmith.

Enjoy your Wednesday.

Poems

we are all

08NOV25

a collection of stories

stories are gold
people long gone
they take their hold
our hearts they own

old familiar names
make us snicker
in our souls a flame
dances and flickers

told as funny
make us alive
the soul's honey
straight from the hive

as the words fall
refections in glory
we are all
a collection of stories

it makes bigfoot's eyes damp
says remembering is good
as he breaks camp
in the timber and woods

I am writing this post this morning in a holler in the beauty that the world calls Appalachia. It is my boyhood home. We walked these roads when they were dirt and gravel barefooted as children. I can remember my mom telling us the first morning after school ended to “Get out there and toughen up your feet.”

Maybe it is just me but it seems like that your heart beats just a little different when you return to the place where you were raised. Yesterday I spent approximately 4 hours talking with my aunt Ruth. She is the last of my mom’s siblings. My uncle Bob, uncle Mutt and my mom have all passed away in the last 13 years.

We spent some time talking about the stories that I knew. And even in those stories aunt Ruth would usually provide details and tidbits on the back story to make everything more understandable. I found myself saying either to her or to myself “Well that makes more sense now.” And then there were all the stories that I didn’t know. We cleared up some of the ways that people were related. We went over how we ended up having these relatives living and visiting from different states.

The well mannered chihuahua was still roaming the scene. But everyone tends to get overshadowed by my aunt Ruth’s great grandson Jack. I liked Jack before I had ever met him because my brother had already told me over the phone “Wait until you meet Jack.” He is a little boy with an exuberant smile and sparkly eyes that seems to be in a perpetually bubbly mood. I find it almost impossible to look at him and not smile. So no matter how much detail or minutia we got into in the family history Jack could be counted on to liven up the already lively conversation.

Part of this is to explain how I came up with today’s poem. If I could take a lesson from yesterday it might be to encourage you to take or make the time to make arrangements to talk with your older relatives about all of the stories.

I predict that you will have the time of your life. And that you will smile.

Poems

and that just widens

06NOV25

all of our smiles

at a bigfoot rally
giving him his props
watches us in the valley
from the mountaintop

we're all smiles
no harm no hurt
all the while
in one of his T shirts

it is a fun dance
good is the mood
and it's only enhanced
by trucks with food

there's no rule breaking
in this school
well except for making
ourselves look like fools

bigfoot is still hidin'
that's his style
and that just widens
all of our smiles

I am still in the holler in the mountains of Appalachia in Nickelsville Virginia this morning. I shot some beautiful drone footage yesterday. But I am not sure that I will make it into a You Tube video. My phone app said that I was permitted to fly there but when I researched it further in the afternoon it appears that there may be some state and local regulations that prohibit it. There are a lot of rules and regulations involving drones. And just because that the FAA does not prohibit it does not necessarily mean you are still allowed to fly there. I guess I need to check for an app that incorporates and blankets as many of the restrictions in one place as is possible. So for the time being I guess yesterday was just practice and a lesson learned on doing more research before putting the bird in the air.

Like a student in kindergarten or the 1st grade it doesn’t help when I look on You Tube and see several drone videos of the same location. Probably the best approach for this issue is to decide that I need to find a more unique location that is not such an obvious opportunity for the camera bird. It might be a better part of creativity to try to find that beauty that doesn’t reveal itself on the first glance.

Maybe the lesson we can take from this is to not stop looking for the laughter, fun and beauty that waits for us in each day. And to keep smiling until we find it.

Poems

it is their habit

23OCT25

one with the land

over the hill
the day breaks
there is no pill
for them to take

no health plan
or drugstore place
just the land
and open space

as they conceal
and do with less
the bigfoot heal
with energy they possess

every bigfoot knows
the true worth
of the energy that flows
from the earth

it is their habit
one with the land
they can tap it
better than we can

The inspiration for this poem was taken from several interviews that I have watched that claim that bigfoot has healed someone with energy. You can watch the interviews and decide for yourself what you think. In the Drop Down Menu under the Bigfoot Videos section there are 2 blog posts that talk about this. They are Arizona to Alabama and Thom Cantrall. If you are curious you can check them out for yourself.

Yesterday I finished the 2nd slide show video from the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest 2025. It is now up on the blog and on You Tube. Today I will start on the slide show from the Woodbooger Festival in Norton VA.

My brother called me with a color of the leaves update yesterday. He thinks that they are at least a week away from peaking. So it will not be long before the drone is back in the air over the hills, hollers and mountains of Appalachia.

I hope that all of your smiles are peaking this week. And I hope that they never come back down. Well that might be scary. Maybe I hope that they peak a lot in the future : )

I am including a temporary link to the 2nd slide show. The link to the 1st slide show is in the previous blog post.

Poems

bigfoot can see me

14OCT25

but I can’t see him

are things destined to be
or do they happen on a whim
bigfoot can see me
but I can't see him

big questions to ponder
hard to know for certain
big beings just out yonder
behind some kind of curtain

long are the hours
and bigfoot does not blink
it all takes more brain power
than you would think

not for the faint-hearted
to cross those big lines
and we aren't exactly regarded
as being Einsteins

I am currently in a waiting pattern. My brother and nephew are taking pictures of the trees and the fall foliage in the holler in Appalachia to let me know how the leaves are changing colors. There are several drone videos that I plan to shoot there once the leaves turn a brighter color. I believe they will turn a brighter color once there is a cold snap for a few mornings. I plan to get there a few days early so I can recon some of the sights and form a mental sketch of how I want to put the video clips together.

I will try to capture as much footage as possible while the trees are in all of their multicolored glory. And I plan to shoot more videos after the leaves fall. In some situations where the trees hide things the videos will probably be better without the leaves. And there is a certain beauty in trees without their leaves. The beauty is still there. It is just perhaps a little more haunting in its presentation.

Once I get the GoPro camera up and running I plan to shoot driving, motorcycling, bicycling, skateboarding, paddle boarding, and kayaking videos on it. Most of them will probably have music set to them. I am pretty sure in the editing process I will be able to mix the soundtrack with the ambient sounds in the recorded video footage. I plan to put these videos in their own section of the Drop Down Menu. It will probably be below the Drone Flyover Videos section. At this point I am planning on using Goofing Off on a GoPro & Cellphone as the title. But as much as I like to play with words that may change over time.

I am attempting to construct the blog in such a way that it has something of interest for just about anyone. But as time goes by and I attend more bigfoot festivals and link more bigfoot interviews the blog will lean more and more heavily into bigfoot. So we are on a long and winding road. And as we travel it together it would probably be best to wear a smile. And it would probably be even better if that smile were just tad bit goofy.

So as I work on this blog like some kind of mad scientist in a movie I am giving each of you an assignment. And that is to go and have as much fun as possible. And I am sure that you understand that is after you have read the blog : )

Poems

be the thunder

23SEP25

that knows no borders

sing your song
let it fly
& take you along
thru it's sky

bend the notes
be the bell that tolls
let the wind float
well with your soul

bang your drum
make it sound
as they listen from
down on the ground

some things matter
like the truth
let it fall & splatter
on all roofs

be the thunder
that knows no border
you travel under
Heaven's orders

the love you put
through out your sound
will reach even bigfoot
out on his rounds

I will probably leave for Virginia in the morning. That will give me one or two days to settle in before the Woodbooger Festival. Some of my cameras are older. But for the you tube slide shows it really doesn’t matter. On almost any camera that I use I will be encouraged to resize the photos to a lower resolution to improve workflow and performance in the editing process and on you tube. Most people seem to be viewing the videos on mobile devices or tablets so there is not as much concern about detail as there used to be. I am tempted to just shoot the pics in a lower resolution to begin with. But just in case someone asks for a certain pic I plan to keep shooting in the higher resolutions. Learning to jump thru the tech hoops is good for me. And it is fun. It is more fun after you have done it. But a lot of life is probably like that.

I hope that you have a great day. Lead with a smile.

Poems

a lesson in grace

22SEP25

from our big friend

a lesson in grace
from our big friend
to keep our face
keep it in the wind

long is the class
the lesson is sweet
to not let any grass
grow under our feet

drink the lemonade
that he pours
& beneath the tree shade
your soul explore

there is so much more
than we've been told
sail to the distant shore
& see what it holds

This upcoming weekend will be the Woodbooger Festival in Norton VA. I will be packing and heading for the holler any day now. I plan to attend on Saturday and take some photos of people and bigfoot themed stuff at the festival and then put together a you tube slide show. I am working on some slide shows from the Red River Gorge Bigfoot Fest from back in May. I have the pics lined up. I may shoot a new intro pic while I’m in the holler in Appalachia. The scenery is so much more unique and compelling there.

I hope that you start what will be great week for you on this day!

Poems

it is a school

26AUG25

that never ends

amusement for our brain
helps it unlatch
sure to entertain
impossible to catch

the subject of debate
words cruel and blunt
out there he waits
to watch us hunt

studied on the android
studied on the iPhone
just to be toyed
with by the unknown

is he our brother
or is he the devil
more like on another
dimensional level

it is a school
that never ends
playing the fool
for our big friends

but during recess
every once in a while
we think about this mess
with a big smile

I am trying to get some loose ends wrapped up so I can return to Virginia and shoot some more drone footage of the scenery in Appalachia. I am making a list of some places that I want to fly the bird. It is so mountainous and steep with curvy roads that have overgrown overhanging trees that it will be difficult to figure out where I can launch the drone from. So on a lot of the missions I will probably recon one day and fly and shoot on another. A lot of things that make the area so beautiful also combine to make getting the bird in the air and being able to see it more difficult. And the FAA requires that you maintain visual contact with the drone at all times.

The light for shooting footage is usually best at sunrise and about the first hour after. And in that area that is a particularly hazardous time to drive because of all of the deer crossing the road. These days the deer are very plentiful. A couple of years ago at a family reunion I remember a cousin of mine saying that in the 70’s if you killed a deer they would put your picture in the county paper. These days you see deer all over the place.

The blog is still very much a work in progress. I am contemplating adding a bigfoot book review section and some type of listing of all of the posts that contain links to bigfoot videos to the drop down menu. In constructing the blog I have to keep an eye on what all the additions do to the speed and responsiveness of the blog when you click on it or items in it on your devices.

I hope you have a great day!
