4th of July

Poems

bigfoot & the Red

04JUL26

White & Blue

salute the red
white & blue
you should dread
if bigfoot fights you

old glory
slave to the wind
in an allegory
we wave to our big friend

over the land
on tall poles leaning
they both stand
in all souls meaning

they both move
like sister & brother
one is easier to prove
than the other

Happy 4th of July. Enjoy this Saturday. Do not remain aloof from the goof.

NOTE: The blog has a menu with more video content. On a computer it is at the top of the screen. On a tablet or mobile device it is the 3 stacked slashes to the right of the word ASTRA. Enjoy the blog.

Poems

from the holler

05JUL25

out of my routine

the page is blank
so that tempts me
but my word bank
is it empty

keeping time with the birds
bigfoot bangs his drum
but my rhyming words
will they come

out of my routine
words try to arrange
addressed to the in between
and always a little strange

after interstate travel
on a long road
my mood under the gavel
of calorie overload

so I do not toast
a piece of bread
but labor over a post
to be read

so out I send
or at least I try
to all the friends
of the big guy

I am in the holler where I grew up. Today we are having a family reunion for the 4th of July. So things are a little rushed this morning.

As we celebrate the 4th today I will keep one eye on the treeline : )

Remember to SMILE.

Poems

n2 the mountains

03JUL25

in an illusion

I live in a box
that I adore
it has good locks
on all of its doors

it has a roof
beneath the skies
does it hide the truth
from my eyes

streets tree lined
the forest bulldozed
ordering my mind
to stay closed

have I been taught
the whole solution
or am I caught
in an illusion

further out I climb
ever more I learn
one of these times
never to return

the truth that hides
I can dimly see
as it resides
out in the trees

Today will be a short post. I am contemplating traveling to Virginia for the 4th of July. If I go I will take the drone. I will probably not do any actual filming. But I will do several trial runs on places that I might want to film in the very near future. A lot of the terrain in the mountains is straight up and down. And it will take some time to find spots where I can launch and land the drone. At some point after I shoot and edit the locations they will make their way into the Drone Flyover section of the menu.

I am not sure what the schedule of posts will be on the trip. During family get togethers it becomes more difficult to maintain a productive schedule. So there may or may not be any more posts over the weekend. If I do miss any posts they should resume early next week.

Enjoy your time with family and friends. Smile even if it is a challenge : )
