bigfoot on High Knob

bigfoot @ Flag Rock

willing to bet
seemed like an hour
just to get
to the tower

no sign of sasquatch
on a road paved
cloaked he watched
& probably waved

statue not found
on the way to the top
coming down was bound
to make one more stop

all was good
almost celebrating
there he stood
patiently waiting

Last week I did a post on my visit to Norton Virginia to visit the Wood Booger Grill on 1MAY25. The grill was part 1 of my visit. The Wood Booger Statue on the mountain was part 2. I asked for directions in the restaurant and then had my phone to direct me just to make sure. The Wood Booger Grill is very close to the entrance where you begin to climb High Knob. I wasn’t really sure where the statue was so I drove all the way to the observation tower on the top. The statue is actually at a point called Flag Rock on the way up. But I wanted to see the observation tower anyway.

I took several photos of the statue and the plaques. You should be able to enlarge and read the plaque that declares Norton a Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Wood Booger sanctuary. It mentions that the TV show “Finding Bigfoot” filmed a show in Norton in 2011. It also mentions the bigfoot sightings in the area. When I checked the BFRO website data base there was no mention of Wise County sightings. But that in no way means there have been no sightings there.

The drive up and down the mountain was absolutely beautiful. It is a long and curvy climb to the top on glass smooth asphalt. There are a few places with restrooms on the way. When you go back down and exit High Knob there are a few different routes you can take right away. I took the wrong one one and added at least 10 miles to my trip because a couple of turns puts you on a 4 lane highway immediately. So you may want to check your phone before you exit High Knob.

I remember reading about a mother and child seeing a bigfoot in a lake in the High Knob area sometime in the past. I could not find that specific report when I was putting together this post. There is a reservoir on the mountain that I didn’t go to. So if you ever go there you may want to plan on trying to see that. I would suggest on planning on the trip to the Grill, the statue, the reservoir and the observation tower taking up most of the day. Of course I got stuck in an hour of traffic on the freeway because of a semi wreck. So your trip may go quicker. But it is always good not to be too rushed. Time is a luxury.

I have included a link to photos of the statue and the observation or lookout tower. There are 2 photos that I saw in a hardware store window on my drive into Norton. After I got turned around and was coming back out of town I crossed the street and took a couple of pictures.

Enjoy the pictures and your weekend.

Here is the link.
